Encompass Ventures

A Bellevue-based venture capital firm that invests in early stage information technology companies, Encompass Ventures, announced it has spun off EnCompass Group, enabling the firm to independently focus on venture capital investment activities. Scot Land and Wayne Wager will remain as managing partners of the firm. The firm will continue to manage its two active venture funds, as well as future funds.

Everett Community College

Everett Community College has hired two new deans. Al Friedman, is dean of Math, Science and Occupations division and Chad Lewis, will become dean of Business and Advanced Technology. Friedman has served as interim dean of Math, Science and Occupations since 1999. He came to the college in 1990. Lewis has been an instructor at the college since 1979.

Sound Transit

Sound Transit is recruiting for a citizen volunteer from north King County to fill a vacancy on its Citizen Oversight Panel. Senator Patty Murray

Senator Patty Murray announced the hiring of USDA Rural Development State Director Mary McBride as her new Central Washington regional representative. McBride has served as the state director of USDA Rural Development for the past six years. Prior to that she worked as the USDA's state rural development coordinator and as the executive director of the Palouse Economic Development Council

Construction Machinery Inc.

Eddie Gibson has joined Construction Machinery Inc. as the service manager for its Kent facility. Eddie has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, most recently as operations manager for Pacific North Equipment in Chehalis. Construction Machinery Inc. has branches from Alaska to Nevada and is the local dealer for Volvo and Ingersoll-Rand construction equipment.

Grove Crane

Stephen Cripe, Grove senior vice president and CFO, announced that David Hull has been appointed director, trade finance. Hull’s responsibility will be to seek out new financial tools to create a competitive advantage for Grove and its partners.

Cripe stated “In the dynamic construction equipment industry, equipment finance has become a more integral part of the sales process than ever before. We are excited to have Dave leading us through these challenges in this ever changing environment.”

JCB

Helmut Peters, formerly executive vice president of the Volvo Construction Equipment Group, has been appointed president of JCB in North America.

Peters was also president and CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment North America for seven years, during which time he re-organized and developed the business, which grew from sales of $200 million to $700 million.

Peters, who took up his appointment last month, said, “JCB is recognized as number one in Europe and is now determined to achieve significant sales in North America. I am looking forward to the challenge of fulfilling that aim.”

He has spent 30 years as a senior executive in the construction industry, working in North America, Europe and South Africa. He was with Volvo for 11 years, joining them as managing director of their German subsidiary company

Teresa Powers has been named human resource generalist for Resource Management's Seattle branch, located on Mercer Island. Powers will assist clients with all aspects of human resources including job description development, applicant pre-screening, new-hire orientations and compliance.

Roguewave

Roguewave, a Spokane-based media design company, announced the addition of Stuart Evey as director of strategic alliances. During his 26-year career with Getty Oil Co., Evey served as vice president of the company's worldwide non-oil activities that included direction of commercial real estate holdings, lumber and plywood mills in Africa and the United States; wine and agribusiness developments in California, and the management of hotel and resort properties in Mexico, and New York City.

BDO Seidman

BDO Seidman, one of the nation’s leading professional service organizations, has expanded its Seattle practice by adding former Hersman Serles’ partners and their respective professional and support staff in that firm’s Kirkland, Everett and Seattle offices. With the addition of these individuals, which will be effective May 1, the number of partners and staff in BDO Seidman’s greater Seattle offices will expand to approximately 70. The former staff of Hersman Serles’ Kirkland and Everett locations will maintain the same office address, telephone and fax numbers.
