James Clark Design Images, a Seattle-based branding strategies firm for events and corporate identities, announced that Tina Swenson and Aaron Barger have joined the company. Swenson joins as a project manager, responsible for coordinating the project team and communicating with the client. Barger, a production artist, is responsible for technical aspects of design production.

Simpson Timber Co. has named John Hynes manager of its new Commencement Bay operations located in Tacoma. Hynes served as construction manager for the sawmill for the past 20 months. He has been in the sawmill business for more than 30 years. He joined Simpson in 1991 where he managed mills in Oregon and California.

Autoland

Autoland, a national auto-buying service for credit unions, hired Linda Pastorino to head its Northwest office, servicing Washington and Oregon. Pastorino will be based in Portland. She has 20 years of marketing and consulting experience.

Evergreen Bank

Seattle-based Evergreen Bank announced the promotion of David Heise to assistant vice president/electronic commerce officer. Heise will focus on cultivating additional electronic banking for the bank's commercial and consumer customers. He has been with the bank since 1992

Laird Norton Trust of Seattle has hired Vickie Suelzle as senior vice president and managing director of wealth planning services, Kathleen Huckabay as senior wealth planning advisor and Duane Duim as wealth planning advisor. Suelzle will work directly with high-net-worth clients to recommend tax and financial planning strategies. Huckabay and Duim will work with clients to recommend a range of wealth management planning, from tax-related strategies to retirement planning.

Elevated Transportation Company

The Elevated Transportation Company council elected Dr. Robert Radford to its board of directors. Radford served as principal of Meany Middle School from 1997 to 1999, and principal of Decatur Elementary School from 1994 to 1997. The ETC is charged with developing a plan to build and operate a monorail serving Seattle neighborhoods.

Caffé Appassionato

Locally owned and operated international retail coffee chain, Caffé Appassionato, announced that its Shoreline retail store will go “all-organic,” offering only organic retail and café items. The new plan includes the exclusive use of shade-grown coffee that comes from traditional, environmentally sensitive farms in Central America that protect threatened migratory bird habitat.

Aegis

Aegis of Laguna Niguel, an assisted-living community located in the southern California, was named the Assisted Living Community of the Year for 2001 by Consumer Business Review. The community is operated by Redmond-based Aegis. The company operates several assisted-living communities and plans to build 20-25 more within the next five years in the western United States.

Snohomish County PUD

Snohomish County PUD has named Clair Olivers its new assistant general manager of water resources. Olivers will direct the water utility and its Jackson Hydroelectric Project. He has 25 years of experience with the city of Everett in a variety of engineering and management positions, most recently as the city's director of public works.
