Tacoma Public Utility Board

Jake Fey has joined the Tacoma Public Utility Board as a new member. Fey is the director of the Washington State University Cooperative Extension Energy Program. Members of the board are elected by the Tacoma City Council for five-year terms. The board also elected Robert Lane to a one-year term as chair of the board. He succeeds Tim Strege who completed his five-year board term. Also elected were Tom Hilyard as vice-chair and William Barker as secretary.

Woodland Park Zoological Society

The Woodland Park Zoological Society named Deborah B. Jensen, PhD. president and chief executive officer. Most recently, Jensen served as vice president of the conservation science division for the worldwide office of the Nature Conservancy in Arlington, Va.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Col. Richard W. Hobernicht has been chosen to assume command of the Portland District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He succeeds Col. Randall J. Butler and will be installed as commander in a ceremony on July 19.

Associated Grocers

Robert P. Hermanns was named president and CEO by the board of directors of Associated Grocers. As part of a management succession plan, Hermanns succeeds Robert Hoyt who served as interim CEO. Hoyt will now serve a three-year term on the board of directors. Hermanns was most recently chief operating officer of Weis Markets which operates 163 retail food markets in the Mid-Atlantic states.

Country Insurance & Financial Services

Aaron Foster has been named an agent for Country Insurance & Financial Services. Foster will work out of his Tacoma office.

KPFF

Alberto Cisneros has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers in Seattle. Cisneros is the civil project manager for the Immunex Helix project. He is also working on the Public Health Science building for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Stadium Way Road widening for Washington State University.

Cisneros recently completed the Olympus residential tower in Seattle, street and plaza improvements for the award-winning Space Needle expansion and several projects at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center campus including the Aloha Street and Minor and Fairview avenues intersection realignments on the campus, the new Yale Building, and the award-winning Cancer Care Alliance.

Pacland

Pacland announced Bob Jewell has become a principal of the firm. Jewell joined Pacific Land Design in 2001 and manages the Transportation Engineering and Design Team in the Olympia office.

Jewell has 12 years experience with transportation engineering and design for projects in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. His understanding of agency requirements contributes to timely, cost effective design solutions for our clients. Jewell has recently completed the project management and permitting of a major highway interchange design project within WSDOT jurisdiction. His efforts have also contributed to the completion of roundabouts under WSDOT and Municipal jurisdiction, as well as traffic signals and other challenging roadway design projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Penhallegon

Christopher W. Kelsey joined Penhallegon Associates Consulting Engineersas a project manager in the municipal department of the Seattle office. Kelsey graduated from Lehigh University and has 12 years of experience in the design and analysis of water and wastewater systems.

He is currently working on projects for Olympic View Water and Sewer District, Skyway Water and Sewer District and Highline Water District.

INCA

INCA Engineers announced that Walter A. McAlorum has joined the Bellevue office as a senior electrical engineer. He will assume project engineering responsibilities for several of the company’s projects involving electrical design. McAlorum has 30 years experience in the engineering, design and construction of power plants, industrial plants, and institutional facilities. His experience includes design of power distribution systems, relay protection, load and short circuit studies, control systems including PLC’s, lighting, fire detection, and communications systems.

PAE Consulting

PAE Consulting Engineers, Inc., a mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, and sustainable design consulting engineering firm, announced the addition of staff members to its Portland office.

Shannon Callantine joins PAE’s marketing department as marketing coordinator. She was an intern at PAE for two years before graduating from Portland State University with a Bachelor’s in business marketing. Her responsibilities include the production of proposals, marketing material and overall assistance to the marketing department.

Kate Turpin specializes in environmental design and has worked on a number of projects incorporating LEED design, energy efficiency, and life cycle cost analysis. Current projects include Wilsonville City Hall, Portland State University College of Engineering and Computer Science, Marylhurst University and Columbia Square Building.

WBGS

Kari Greene received her license to practice architecture in May. She is currently working on the Lane Transit District -- Bus Rapid Transit and Springfield Station projects. While at WBGS Architecture and Planning, she has also contributed to a diverse collection of projects including the city of Eugene: 9-1-1 Dispatch Center and the Lane Transit District "Breeze" shelters.

Schkara Leonard joined WBGS in1998 and recently passed two exams: the Construction Specification Institute’s Construction Document Technician exam and Certified Construction Contract Administrator exam. Schkara assists in the construction administration phase of the firm’s projects. Some of the projects that she has supported include: Brookings-Harbor School District, Newport City Hall, Oregon Department of Forestry -- Tillamook Headquarters, and Lane County-Health & Human Services Mental Health Building.
