Davis Wright Tremaine recently hired five new associate attorneys: Kevin H. Kono and Andrew P. Parks, graduates of the University of Oregon School of Law; Carol A. Noonan, and Jason R. Sieminski, graduates of Georgetown University Law Center; and Jessica M. O'Connor, a graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law. All five will work in the firm's Portland office.
Provail received a $50,000 grant from the Paul G. Allen Charitable Foundation to help fund its dental clinic. Provail recently changed its name from United Cerebral Palsy of King and Snohomish Counties and built a new headquarters in the Wallingford/Fremont neighborhoods. The grant will move Provail's dental clinic to its new building. The dental clinic provides specialized care to people with disabilities. The clinic is run by 16 volunteer dentists and four dental hygienists, and serves as a teaching facility for students at the University of Washington and several community colleges in the area.
Nordstrom will open its first Nordstrom Rack store in Florida in fall of 2003. The 27,000-square-foot store will be located at the Sawgrass Mills mall in Sunrise, Fla. Nordstrom currently operates four full line stores in Florida, in Boca Raton, Tampa, Coral Gables and Orlando. The retailer will open a fifth store in the Mall at Wellington Green in 2003.
FlightSafety Boeing Training International has teamed with Advanced Interactive Systems to provide safety and security training for commercial airline pilots and flight attendants. As directed by the Homeland Security Act, pilots will be trained in handling firearms in an aircraft environment, as well as in identifying, handling and defending against threatening passengers.

Delta Computer Systems appointed William E. Savela to motion products marketing manager. He will also serve as region sales manager in several western states. Savela's previous experience includes positions with GE Automation Services, Measurex and Maverick Technologies.
Maxwell PR and McClenahan Bruer Communications of Portland have joined with Manning Selvage & Lee, an international public relations firm linked to Publicis Groupe of Paris. Maxwell PR provides corporate communications, media relations and community relations services. McClenahan Bruer markets to technology companies with offices in Portland and San Francisco. Maxwell PR and McClenahan Bruer will operate as independent agencies, providing resource sharing and collaboration with Manning Selvage & Lee.
The Seattle-King County Association of Realtors named J. Lennox Scott 2002 Realtor of the year. The association cited the John L. Scott Real Estate chairman and CEO's "collaborative, cutting-edge approach to technology" and his work on national real estate boards, including that of the National Association of Realtors. The association also gave Coldwell Banker Bain's Philip Matricardi its achievement award. Windermere's Marcie Maxell was honored for community service and Windermere's Beverly Read was named government affairs volunteer of the year.

Lawyer Angelia Harlow was elected to the national board of the Network of Commercial Real Estate Women, also called CREW Network. Harlow works as a commercial real estate attorney for Eisenhower & Carlson. The firm was started in Tacoma by former President Dwight Eisenhower's brother Edgar Eisenhower 85 years ago. The headquarters moved to Seattle in 1988 but keeps a Tacoma office. Harlow serves on the Pierce County Economic Board and is a past president of CREW Seattle.
Tom Tierney, deputy CEO of the Port of Seattle, will talk at the next lunch meeting of CREW Seattle. The event is scheduled for noon on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Washington Athletic Club in downtown Seattle. Tierney will discuss possible changes in the use of port properties such as redeveloping Pier 46 from a cargo terminal into an urban village-style mix of uses. For information, call (206) 361-6859.
