DKA recently added three people its architectural staff. Sibu Dandato has joined the firm as an intern architect. Dandato is working on a new building for the Asian Counseling and Referral Service and a health clinic tenant improvement for International District Community Health Services.

Loren Brandford brings six years of experience to DKA where he is working on renovation projects for three Seattle Public Schools, and a new 238-bed dormitory for the Department of Labor.

Michael Stevens has five years architectural firm experience. At DKA he is assisting on two Seattle Monorail station designs, a new building for ACRS, and a city of Seattle maintenance facility located under the Fremont Bridge.

MulvannyG2 Architecture

Bellerjeau

MulvannyG2 Architecture recently appointed Andre Bellerjeau to manager of business development.

Bellerjeau will be responsible for assisting with MulvannyG2's business development efforts and will work directly with the corporate director of business development and the principals of the firm's retail, office, community, industrial, international and interiors studios in Bellevue.

Bellerjeau has 12 years of architecture and interiors experience, and previously worked for MulvannyG2 from 1997 to 2000. He has worked throughout Europe, based in Munich, as the managing director for a security design company. His project experience at MulvannyG2 includes the 30-story Elliott Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle and MulvannyG2's headquarters at the One Twelfth@Twelfth office campus in downtown Bellevue.

He is committee chair of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and active on two associations in the city of Bellevue.

The Glosten Associates

Duane Laible, chairman of The Glosten Associates, has received a presidential appointment to the U.S. Arctic Research Commission. With seven voting members, the commission works to promote arctic research and assists in establishing national arctic research plans and policies.

Laible has been instrumental in the development and expansion of Glosten's support to the research vessel community: serving all of the major U.S. oceanographic research institutions, and assisting the Office of Naval Research and National Science Foundation in defining requirements for next generation research vessels. With 40 years of marine industry experience, Laible will provide the commission both research and commercial activity perspectives.

Salish Lodge & Spa

Salish Lodge & Spa, located in Snoqualmie Falls, named Dan DeFrancia director of sales and marketing and promoted Victor J. Liss, Jr. to director of catering. DeFrancia is the former director of sales and marketing of Rosario Resort's Bellevue sales office. Liss is currently Salish's restaurant manager and maitre d'hotel.

Tacoma City Council

Tacoma City Councilmember Doug Miller was recognized by the National League of Cities as one of the first 15 people to achieve the Gold Level of its Certificate of Achievement in Leadership Award Program. In order to reach the Gold Level, Miller was required to earn credits in five core competencies. Miller has served on the Association of Washington Cities board of directors for four years.

Seattle-Northwest Securities

Seattle-Northwest Securities, a Seattle-based investment bank and bond underwriter, added Mark Prussing to its public finance department. Prussing is the former Alaska State comptroller and has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, public service and public accounting.

Williams Kastner & Gibbs

Deborah Juarez joined the Seattle office of Williams Kastner & Gibbs, a Seattle-based law firm. Juarez is the former superior court judge and executive director of the Governor's Office of Indian Affairs. In her new position she will provide legal council to tribes and their partners in a variety of business, environmental and regulatory issues.

OKI Golf

Matt Baer was named executive chef of The Plateau Club, an OKI Golf Club located on the Sammamish Plateau. Baer, former executive chef at the World Trade Center of Seattle, will create new menu concepts and teach members about the culinary arts. OKI Golf is a Bellevue-based golf ownership and management company.

City University

City University, a private not-for-profit university with locations in the Northwest, Canada and Europe, named Wayne Hansen to its Board of Governors. Hansen, managing partner of Seattle-based Jackon Lewis, has more than 30 years of experience in labor and employment law.

Seattle City Council

Seattle City Councilmember-elect Tom Rasmussen selected Michael Fong and Brian Hawksford as his legislative assistants. Fong, former lead staff to Councilwoman Heidi Wills, will staff the Housing, Human Services and Health Committee and work on legislative and policy matters. Hawksford, former co-owner of Portfolio Strategy Consulting, will manage constituent relations, community outreach and scheduling.

Clothier & Head

Clothier & Head, a Seattle-based accounting firm, named Timothy J. Jacobsen managing shareholder. Jacobsen, a certified public accountant, has been director of tax services for the past three years and a shareholder for a year. Before joining Clothier & Head, he operated his own CPA firm and associated pension administration for 17 years.

Steve Mara has joined Howard S. Wright Construction Co. as president of its Washington operations. The company also announced Jerry Surdyk has joined the Seattle office as a project executive and Bill Jensen has been hired as director of preconstruction services in the Portland office. Mara spent much of his 25-plus-year career at Baugh Construction, where he last held the role of president. He is experienced with office, parking structure, retail, medical, residential and hotel projects. Surdyk has 23 years of experience and Jensen 22 years. Seattle-based Howard S. Wright has regional offices in Portland, Sacramento, Calif., San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix.

Michael Boyle and Jason Metcalf have joined S.D. Deacon's Bellevue office, both as project managers in the Special Projects Division. Boyle has 30 years of industry experience and has previously worked for Deacon. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Colorado State University. Metcalf has experience in tenant improvement jobs and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Central Washington University.

W.G. Clark Construction

O'Shea

Two former staffers at W.G. Clark Construction -- Keith Barrow and Bo O'Shea -- have returned to the Seattle-based firm. Barrow left in 2001 after 12 years with the firm. He returns with a dual role of project manager and director of business development. O'Shea, who worked at W.G. Clark 12 years ago, rejoins as a senior project manager.

University Mechanical Contractors

University Mechanical Contractors has added Jim Dickson to its sales team as an account executive. Dickson is a mechanical engineer and holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Washington. He has an extensive background in HVAC and controls.
