A former principal with LMN Architects, Bales brings 25 years experience in corporate and institutional interior architecture. Past projects include work for clients such as Boeing Commercial Airplane Group headquarters, Russell Investment headquarters, Russell/Mellon Analytical Services offices, Microsoft Liberty office and the Port of Tacoma administrative office building.

Karaca has been hired as a senior electrical designer. Karaca has 20 years of experience in electrical, and interior and exterior lighting design. His experience includes commercial, retail, institutional, medical, municipal and park facilities. He is currently working on the city of Bremerton's Police and Municipal Court Facility.

Ristow has been hired as a mechanical engineer. Ristow has seven years of experience designing mechanical systems. His background includes HVAC, piping, plumbing and fire protection for institutional, municipal, medical and laboratory projects as well as mixed-use facilities. He is currently working on retail facilities at Sea-Tac Airport.

Murray, Smith & Associates, a Portland-based civil and environmental engineering firm, recently named Kevin M. Thelin and Thomas J. Perry as associates and shareholders.

Thelin has managed water, sewerage, stormwater, subsurface utility engineering and transportation improvement projects for many of the firm's key clients in Oregon and Washington. He is currently a project manager on the firm's ongoing Oregon Department of Transportation work. Prior to joining MSA, Thelin worked as project manager and technical director for the French-Canadian non-governmental development organization of Terre Sans Frontieres on a variety of water and sanitation projects in Rwanda.

Perry joined MSA in 1987 after graduating from Oregon State University with a B.S. degree in civil engineering. He is managing public works client and project interests for the firm in both states. He is a member of the Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association and the Water Environment Federation.

Kreamer has 25 years of experience in financial services, including trust, investment management and brokerage. Scherrer joins The Harris after 10 years of professional investment experience, specializing in portfolio management. The Harris is a part of BMO Financial Group, based in Montreal, British Columbia.

Longview Fibre

John R. Brandt was promoted to paper-mill superintendent for Longview Fibre Co.'s Longview pulp-paper operations. Brandt, former central mill machine superintendent, replaces Roger J. Mendenhall. Mendenhall, who is retiring, has been with the company for over 30 years.

Pet's Choice

Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Lynnwood hired Michael B. Mison as a veterinary specialist. Mison comes to Pet's Choice from Washington State University, where he will maintain his position as an assistant professor in small animal surgery. AERC is a member of Pet's Choice, a Bellevue-based group of veterinary hospitals and specialty practices.

Michael Geri, first vice president - financial consultant in RBC Dain Rauscher's Seattle office, was named a member of the firm's Portfolio Focus - Portfolio Manager Group. As a member, Geri will receive additional marketing support and assistance with professional development. RBC, a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada, is a securities firm headquartered in Minneapolis.

Intelligent Results, a Bellevue-based provider of business analytic solutions, named Kelly Pennock CEO. Pennock is a co-founder of the company and its former president and CTO. Previously, Pennock was a program manager with Amazon.com.

Beth McCaw and Scott O'Halloran were named partners at Williams Kastner & Gibbs, a Seattle-based law firm. McCaw, an associate in the Seattle office since 2000, focuses her practice on estate planning, gift and estate taxation, probate and the law of exempt organizations. O'Halloran, an associate in the Tacoma office since 2000, practices general civil and commercial litigation with an emphasis on medical malpractice and products liability defense.

Tourism Whistler

Barrett Fisher was appointed president of Tourism Whistler, a member-based marketing and sales organization representing Whistler, British Columbia. Fisher, former interim president, has been with the organization for 14 years in a variety of positions, including vice president of marketing strategy and business development, vice president of marketing and sales, director of marketing and director of advertising and promotion.

Kurt Boyd has joined PCL Construction Services as manager of business development, and Brad Robinson has joined the company's Special Projects Division as an estimator. Boyd replaced Rolle Walker, who relocated to PCL's national headquarters in Denver. Boyd was director of business development and marketing for Valley Electric before joining PCL. He has over 23 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in building construction and master's degree in construction management from the University of Washington. He is now finishing a certificate program in sports management at the UW Business School. Robinson earned his bachelor's degree in construction management at the UW.

Express Construction Co. has hired Patrick Donohue as a project engineer and Brett Henkel as a superintendent. Both are focused on tenant improvement projects. Donohue has more than 13 years of experience as an estimator for commercial, retail, environmental and fuel systems projects. Prior to joining Express, Donohue worked for A.E. Schmidt Inc. He studied architecture at the University of Texas at Austin and has an associate arts degree from Seattle Central Community College. Henkel began his construction career in 1989 as a framing contractor, working up to superintendent. He most recently worked for Schuchart Corp.

Dur-A-Flex of East Hartford, Conn., has hired Jeffrey Donnell as regional sales representative for the Washington state area. The company makes seamless flooring products including epoxies, urethanes, methyl methacrylate systems and colored quartz aggregates. Donnell has over 30 years of experience.
