Zipper Zeman Associates named James M. Brisbine a senior geotechnical engineer. Brisbine has designed foundations and shoring walls throughout Washington. He is based in the Seattle office. New staff geologists are Gil Pepin, Michael August and Ryan Murphy, all based in the Lynnwood office. ZZA provides geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting and engineering geology services.

Walker Macy added landscape designer Jason Ortega and administrative staff member Kelly Ruhlig. Ortega was project manager on projects at San Francisco International Airport and the University of California, Berkeley. Ruhlig attended City College in San Francisco and worked at a construction/development company. Walker Macy does landscape architecture, urban design and planning.

The architecture, design and planning firm Perkins+Will's Seattle office named Stan Zintel health care director for the Northwest. He has more than 25 years of experience in health care planning and design in Portland, Seattle and Anchorage. Amanda Sturgeon has joined as project architect and senior sustainable design advocate for the Seattle office. She has more than 15 years of experience.

Yantis Acoustical Design

Yantis Acoustical Design added Tara Damschen as an acoustician. She will work on projects at the Salem Hospital Central Plant and the Seattle Preparatory Academy Theatre. Yantis provides design services for acoustics as well as vibration, environmental noise and sound reinforcement systems.

Seattle firm Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs added John Wallman to its transportation department to work on projects for Washington State Department of Transportation and Snohomish County. Evin Gibson, a recent graduate of the University of Washington, will work with structural design team on projects at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego and Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. ABKJ provides civil and structural engineering.

Emick Howard & Seibert

Emick Howard & Seibert added Nick Hines and Fred Lawson as job captains, and Tricia Donnel as an interior designer. Hines worked on 60 retail rollouts for Washington Mutual Bank. Lawson worked on the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma and U.S. consulates in China and Sri Lanka. Donnel's past interior design work includes projects at Piper Jaffrey and Cascade Natural Gas. The Seattle firm provides retail planning, architecture and interior design services.

Monroe-based Harmsen & Associates announced engineer Scott Peterson has become LEED accredited. Peterson is working on a pilot project in Monroe that will use rain gardens to capture stormwater runoff. Harmsen & Associates provides civil engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture and land use planning services.

Triad Associates recently promoted George Newman to director of business development, Kathy Orni to project principal and William Stevens to project manager. Before Newman joined Triad four years ago, he was a land use division manager for Snohomish County Planning & Development Services. Orni and Stevens are overseeing projects for Yarrow Bay Development and Fairfield Development. The 110-person land development consulting firm is based in Kirkland.

Bernardo-Wills Architects

Spokane firm Bernardo-Wills Architects promoted architect Matt Jacoby to associate. Jacoby, who joined in April 2004, is project architect on the Springfield Center Office Building in Spokane Valley. Intern Damian Cronkhite has eight years of drafting and design experience. Bernardo-Wills provides design and site/masterplanning services.

Washington Asset Management

Washington Asset Management, a Seattle-based financial services firm, has opened a branch office in Montesano. Melvin A. McMillan will manage the office. McMillan was trained at the New York Institute of Finance and has more than 40 years of experience.

City of Seattle

There is a vacancy on the city's Citizens' Telecommunications and Technology Advisory Board. The 16-member board advises city officials on cable television access, community technology access and cable franchising renewal.
