Fish Club

Christopher Frothingham has been appointed executive chef of Fish Club, Todd English's restaurant located at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront. Frothingham returns to English's The Olive Group from Legal Sea Food in Boston, where he developed new culinary concepts while managing a $10 million training store.

DMX Music

Ray Basile has been named vice president of the recently re-branded New Media Group for DMX Music, which provides digital music and visual imaging to homes and businesses. Basile is in the Seattle office of Austin-based DMX Music. Basile will help develop strategic positioning and branded imaging campaigns.

Cowan Smith Kirk

The Cowan Smith Kirk law firm of Kirkland hired a new law partner and changed the firm name to The Cowan Smith Kirk Gaston Law Firm. Eric Gaston was formerly a partner in his own DUI defense law firm, Vietch, Gaston & Kennedy, and will become the fourth partner at the firm.

Magnusson Klemencic Associates recently announced 2006 senior position promotions. Derek Beaman, leader of MKA's convention center specialist group, was promoted to vice president. His current projects include a $455 million, two-phase expansion of the Phoenix Civic Plaza Convention Center and the Anchorage Convention Center. David Eckmann, manager of Midwest projects, was promoted to vice president. His current projects include high-rise towers in Chicago, including two residential towers in Chicago's Lakeshore East neighborhood. Brian Pavlovec was promoted to vice president. His focus at MKA is higher education, laboratory and other institutional projects. He is working on the Lake Union site for University of Washington Medicine, Washington State University's biotech building in Pullman and Harborview Medical Center's Ninth and Jefferson laboratory, part of the Harborview Bond Project. Peter Somers was promoted to senior associate. He is a member of the building preservation and earthquake specialist groups, and is project manager on the Roosevelt High School and University Washington Guggenheim Hall historic renovation efforts. Steven Haluschak, a civil site design engineer, was promoted to senior associate, specializing in large-site campus developments, and is currently project manager for the 77-acre Luther Burbank Park master plan on Mercer Island. He is working on the 43-acre Magnuson Park sports field and wetland complex in Seattle, and the 4.6-acre Seattle Chinese Garden on the South Seattle Community College campus. He is also working on the soon-to-be-completed Redmond City Hall.

Terry Krause, a retail specialist, has joined Group Mackenzie. Krause has more than 20 years of experience in architecture. Krause is working on retail projects such as the Old Mill District, Phase II in Bend, Ore.; Eastgate Plaza in Vancouver; Bridgeport Commons in Tualatin, Ore.; and Ochoco redevelopment master plan in Prineville, Ore.

Harpel is project architect for the city of Poulsbo's new municipal campus, and the addition and modernization of Reeves Middle School for the Olympia School District. Gerstmann is project architect for the addition and modernization of Bremerton High School for the Bremerton School District. Pool is working on the design of the new Physical Education/Performing Arts Center addition to Seattle's historic Garfield High School.

Bumgardner has added Yes Duffy and Anne Roman. Roman received a bachelor's degree in interior architecture from Northern Illinois University and has completed one year toward a master of architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Duffy worked at KLW Architects in Berkeley, Calif., and founded a design collective in San Francisco. At Bumgardner, he is working on mixed-use and residential projects.

The following recently joined DMJM Harris' Bellevue office. Leslie Lahndt serves as a project manager and manager of the company's engineering services group. Susan Gygi is project manager in the Northwest transit/rail division, assisting on the Mukilteo Station design work for Sound Transit and various BNSF Seattle-Everett rail projects. Eric Crowe has relocated from the DMJM Harris Phoenix office to Bellevue to become the lead roadway engineer for I-405 Kirkland design-build project. Mike Roberts and Eric Dawson rejoin the team in Bellevue. Roberts is the Northwest region construction services manager, and Dawson is assigned to the I-405 Kirkland project. Samir Rustagi is a team member for the I-405 Kirkland project. Robert O'Brien returned to DMJM Harris to design the hydraulics/hydrology elements of the I-405 Kirkland project. Yohanes Darmawan, Nick Schrader and Erik Peterson join the transportation engineering group. Darmawan’s assignments include roadway projects for the city of Sammamish and the I-405 Kirkland project. Schrader is assisting with Sunset Drive for the city of Bellingham and the First Avenue Transfer Station for King County. Alex White joins the firm’s environmental services group, assigned to work on the environmental assessment for the I-405 South Renton Nickel project. Peterson is also working on the I-405 project.

KPFF Consulting Engineers

Scott Kuebler has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. A structural engineer, Kuebler recently managed the Homer Hadley Floating Bridge load test program for light-rail transit, the 721 Fawcett building expansion and the Anderson Island ferry landing pontoon replacement. Kuebler has been a structural engineer in a range of projects, from waterfront and bridge structures to new and renovated educational, residential and commercial buildings.

CH2M Hill

Heidi Johnson recently joined CH2M Hill’s communications and information solutions group as regional sales process manager. A communications professional for 11 years, Johnson was most recently regional marketing manager for a surveying and civil engineering firm.

Hammond Collier Wade Livingstone

The Seattle Office of Hammond Collier Wade Livingstone recently hired Ian Hunter, Jouni Paavola and Bill Armstrong. Hunter is an engineering technician responsible for technical support to the water resources department. Paavola is a project surveyor responsible for conducting field work, analyzing data and performing research. Armstrong is a survey instrument technician responsible for providing technical support to the survey department.

Rick Workman was promoted to senior project manager, and David Brossard and Todd Pullman joined Lease Crutcher Lewis as project managers. Workman has been in construction since 1988, joining Lewis in 2004. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington. Brossard has a bachelor's degree in construction management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and last worked for Centennial Contractors in Fife. Pullman is working in the Special Projects Division. He is a seven-year construction veteran, formerly with Hitt Contracting in Fairfax, Va. He holds a bachelor's degree in real estate and international business from Penn State University.

Skanska USA Building

Skanska USA Building promoted Bruce Holms and Chris Toher to senior vice presidents and account managers; and Bob Paddock to superintendent. The contractor also hired Kris Beason as senior project manager and James Masters as senior superintendent. Holms has worked with Skanska since 2002 and specializes in mixed-use projects. Toher is an 18-year veteran of the company. Paddock has over 15 years of experience, specializing in concrete construction. Beason has over 19 years of experience, specializing in office and biotech tenant improvements. Masters moved from Skanska's Parsippany, N.J., office. He has 30 years of experience.
