Paula Denevan, M.D. has joined the medical staff at Northwest Surgical Specialists as a general surgeon. Northwest Surgical Specialists is a division of Proliance Surgeons. Northwest Hospital and Medical Center is a nonprofit community hospital in north Seattle.
Dominique Calle was named general manager of The Inn at El Gaucho. The inn is owned by MacKay Restaurants, which operates restaurants in Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland.
Sharon Thomas-Hearns has been named marketing and communications manager for Friends of Youth. Friends of Youth is a non-profit agency that provides shelter, housing, counseling and prevention services for young people and their families in King and Snohomish counties.
The Washington Virtual Academy hired Susan Stewart as chief administrative officer and Mark Conley as academic administrator. The Washington Virtual Academy is a new statewide virtual public school program that will serve students from kindergarten to eighth grade, starting with the 2006-2007 school year.

The Grays Harbor Public Development Authority board of directors has appointed Art Tanner to fill a vacant at-large seat on the board. Tanner is the chief financial officer for Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The Grays Harbor Public Development Authority owns and operates Satsop Development Park, which is currently being transformed from an unfinished nuclear power plant to an industrial and business park south of Elma.
Visual Ventures has hired Destiny Boegelsack as traffic manager. Visual Ventures is a graphic design and advertising firm based in Kenmore.
Jim Peoples, president of Key Bank's Seattle-Cascades district, will move into a new role focusing on merger and acquisition opportunities, business development and broadening the bank's community involvement.
