Association of County Engineers

Retired Pierce County Public Works and Utilities Director John Trent was honored by the Washington State Association of County Engineers with its Cenntennial Award. The group said Trent recognized the need for the group to get involved in transportation and public outreach. He anticipated the impacts of the Endangered Species Act and the Growth Management Act.

Group Health Credit Union

Group Health Credit Union has opened a new branch in the South Lake Union area on Dexter Avenue North. The branch has six employees and is located in the Neptune apartment building. Cheryl Bloom of Bloom Design Group designed the branch. GHCU has four other branch locations: Capitol Hill, Northgate, Redmond, and Tukwila.

Wessel and Associates

Wessel and Associates, a public relations and marketing consultant in Spokane, worked with Cheyenne Electric of Kennewick to get a $2 million General Services Administration contract to replace the fire alarm system and upgrade the building automation system at the Bonneville Power Administration Office Building in Portland. The work will be performed by Cheyenne Electric and Johnson Controls. Completion is expected in June of 2007.

Winona Capital Management

Laird Norton Co., Kipp Reese Koldyke and Co. and other investors have formed the private investment firm Winona Capital Management. The new firm has offices in Seattle and Chicago.

Key Technology

Key Technology has hired David M. Camp as president and chief executive officer. He was a consultant with The Thomas Group and president of BOC Edwards Kachina. Key Technology, headquartered in Walla Walla, designs and manufactures automation systems for the food processing and industrial markets.

Lanna Trading Co.

Dekker Dirksen and Kamonwan “Yui” Dhevaraj are the owners and operators of a new store, Lanna Trading Co., at 87 Yesler Way in Seattle. The store sells art, handicrafts and furniture from Thailand.

Tarragon

Tarragon has added three people to its staff. Andrea DeMuro is development manager. She has more than 20 years of experience in development and construction, and will focus on entitlements and national tenants. She was chief estimator and project manager for KrekowJennings. Ed Wilson is a new senior project manager. He has more than 21 years of construction and project management experience and will focus on managing projects and oversee all construction field operations. Wilson worked at Intracorp Real Estate and Construction Associates. Jeff Fogarty is a project manager for industrial projects. He also worked as a construction manager for Intracorp and as an estimator, project manager and superintendent for Construction Associates.

Centennial Properties

Spokane-based Centennial Properties, a real estate company owned by the Cowles Co., named Robert L. Smith vice-president and chief operating officer. He will manage the real estate division. Smith has been general manager of River Park Square and development director of West 809 in Spokane. He will oversee Mansfield Crossing, an office project in the Spokane Valley, and another development in Liberty Lake. Cowles is involved in media, real estate, newsprint manufacturing and insurance.

Flinn Ferguson

Flinn Ferguson Corporate Real Estate hired broker Brian Hayden to help local companies find office space in downtown Seattle. He will specialize in local start-ups and high-growth corporations. Hayden was a broker with the Seattle office of Colliers International. Flinn Ferguson now has 15 full-time brokers.

SAI Real Estate

SAI Real Estate recently won a Mayor's Small Business Award. Ten firms are picked for the annual awards based on management, entrepreneurial spirit, customer service and community involvement. They must have no more than 100 employees and gross revenues of less than $10 million. SAI Real Estate is a brokerage owned by Deloris Walker and located at 9462 Rainier Ave. S. It has operated in Rainier Beach since 1986.

AAA Washington

AAA Washington, based in Bellevue, has hired Kristine Pluschke to be assistant manager of its Bellevue and Redmond offices. She was with Horizon Air.

Marchex

Marchex has hired Dennis Lee as vice president of technology operations and promoted Scott Greenberg to senior vice president of advertising services. Lee was with Amazon.com. Greenberg joined Marchex in 2004. The Seattle company offers advertising and search marketing services.

Vertafore

Vertafore, the parent company of AMS Services, has hired Joe Schick as chief financial officer. He was the senior vice president of finance at Expedia. Vertafore provides software for the insurance industry.

City of Renton

Renton Chief of Police Kevin Milosevich has appointed Tim Troxel as his deputy chief, starting Oct. 1. Troxel has been in the Renton Police Department for 22 years. He was promoted to sergeant in 1996 and commander in 2004.
