Puyallup's Absher Construction Co. won the 2006 Community Service Award from the Tacoma Chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute. The company was cited for its commitment to education, support of minority and women contractors, and community involvement.

Monroe-based Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. hired Royce Hogue as manager of dealer education and Stephen Johnson as regional sales manager. Hogue has experience as a product and price catalog trainer with large and small cabinet companies. He is one of a few trainers in the country that is a Certified Catalog Creator by 20-20 Technologies. Johnson's territory includes Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. He has more than six years of industry experience.
HomeStreet Bank has hired Ben Brown as a loan officer in its Seattle Builder Services department. HomeStreet is a Seattle-based private bank.
The government of Sweden has appointed Lars Jonsson, chairman, CEO and president of Stellar Holdings, as the new honorary consul for the state of Washington. In 1985, Jonsson moved from Sweden to Seattle, where he founded Stellar Holdings, a real estate-focused investment company with operations in Sweden and Washington.

Seattle-based law firm Williams, Kastner & Gibbs has hired Roberto O. Soto, formerly of Stoel Rives, as an associate.
Seattle-based American Seafoods has hired Scott D. McNair as vice president, finance. He was a partner at Grant Thornton.
Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors promoted Nathan Gorton to executive vice president. Former Executive Vice President Russell Hokanson left at the end of October to take on the same position with the Seattle King County Association of Realtors. Gorton was SCCAR's government affairs director.
During October, Coldwell Banker Bain added 13 sales associates to its offices in the greater Puget Sound area. Leavitt Capital Companies has named a new chief operating officer: Jim Edris. He has been director of property services for the company since 1988 and before that worked for PB Properties. Leavitt Capital was established by Tom Leavitt in 1979 as a real estate investment company. It owns property in Seattle and Portland, and recently expanded into Phoenix.
Sales associates and staff from 14 Windermere Real Estate Eastside Group offices teamed up with the Windermere Foundation last month and donated $240,000 to 17 local non-profits. Recipients include the Assistance League of the Eastside, Bellevue Family YMCA, Eastside Baby Corner, Housing at the Crossroads, Shoes From Santa and St. Andrew's Housing Group.
