Juan and Jaime De La Torre of DLT Construction in Wapato, Yakima County, have been named SBA Region X Prime Contractors of the Year for 2007. The award honors small businesses that provide outstanding goods and services for government procurement. Winning companies must demonstrate excellent management and cost performance. The De La Torres will receive their award later this month at the SBA Small Business Week Celebration 2007 in Washington, D.C. Region X covers Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.
Baker Tanks has re-branded itself as BakerCorp. Baker began as a small operator of vacuum trucks in 1942 and has grown into a provider of containment, pump, filtration and shoring equipment and services. The company is based in Seal Beach, Calif., and has offices across the country, including the Seattle and Portland areas.

Lonview-based Longview Fiber Paper and Packaging announced Jack H. Newton has been promoted to manage the paper and paperboard export sales program. Newton has been with the company since 1990 and has a bachelor of arts degree in Japanese language from the University of Oregon.

KemperSports announced Joe Wisocki IV is general manager and director of golf of Chambers Bay, the links-style golf course that will be in University Place. Wisocki has more than 18 years experience in the golf industry. KemperSports is a Northbrook, Ill.-based operator of golf facilities, athletic clubs, and sporting events.
State Treasurer Michael J. Murphy announced the appointment of Allan J. Martin to assistant state treasurer, effective May 1. Martin has served since 1999 as deputy treasurer managing over $10 billion in state obligations. Martin will replace retiring Assistant State Treasurer Mike Colleran.
Seattle-based First Sound Bank hired Elizabeth Sholander as vice president of credit administration. She has worked with Bank of America and U.S. Bank.
John A. Vogt Sr., general manager of Synergy Systems in Redmond, has been named the U.S. Small Business Administration Region X Subcontractor of the Year for 2007. Region X includes Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The title honors an American small business provider of outstanding goods and services. Vogt has been with Synergy Systems, a prototype and limited run machine shop, for 14 years.
