The city of Renton hired Deborah Needham as emergency management director. Needham has been with Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency in Clark County for nine years. She will plan, organize and coordinate emergency management activities for Renton.
Bellevue-based law firm Inslee Best Doezie & Ryder hired Shawna M. Lydon as an attorney. Lydon works in the Business and Litigation Group.
Seattle-based First Sound Bank hired Amy Byrum as vice president and relationship manager. Byrum has worked with First Horizon Bank, Bank of America and First Mutual Bank.
Seattle-based NanoString Technologies hired Wayne Burns as chief financial officer and Jonathan Roy as vice president of sales. Burns was with Action Engine Corp. Roy was with Alfa Wassermann Proteomic Technologies.





The Seattle office of Skanska USA Building promoted Kris Beason and Troy Bloedel to project executives, Mark Engleking and T.J. Modica to senior project managers, and Steve Paul to director of field operations for the Special Projects Group. Beason has been with the company since 2006 leading the Special Projects Group, Bloedel has been with the company for 10 years, Engleking for 11 years, Modica for a year and Paul for eight years. Paul previously was a senior project superintendent.





Mayes Testing Engineers moved its headquarters to a new 13,000-square-foot building in Lynnwood, doubling its office and lab space. The lab has a humidity controlled cure room and a 600,000-pound-capacity universal test machine. Mayes tests and inspects construction projects.
Lease Crutcher Lewis hired Shannon Testa as a project engineer. Testa has been in construction since 1997 and holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Washington State University.
Roofing tile manufacturer EcoStar added three new product representatives to its western region: Miller and Associates in Central Point, Ore.; Marshall & Associates in Roseville, Calif.; and The Sales Group in Camarillo, Calif. Geoff Miller of Miller and Associates will be responsible for growing the EcoStar product line from eastern California to western Nevada. Miller has 15 years of industry experience. EcoStar is a division of Carlisle Construction Materials.
APA-The Engineered Wood Association was accredited by the American National Standards Institute as a standards developer. APA joins approximately 200 standards developers that are ANSI accredited. The designation is a milestone in APA’s efforts to advance the engineered wood industry interests in the building codes and standards arena.
CH2M Hill gifted $600,000 in unrestricted funds to Washington State University for its education programs on the Tri-Cities campus in Richland. The company also is sponsoring 10 freshman scholarships of $6,000 each. The scholarships give $3,000 during the freshman year and another $3,000 in the senior year. They include mentoring throughout a student’s higher education and summer internships with the company.
