Seattle-based Martin Nelson and Co. hired Jim Blumenthal as vice president and senior municipal underwriter in the firm's Public Finance Department. Blumenthal worked at UBS Securities.
Bank of Everett hired Sean Straub as business development officer. Straub has five years of experience in financial services and was a business developer in new construction and condominium conversion financing. Bank of Everett is a full service bank in the Everett area.
Hodgson/Meyers, a Kirkland-based advertising and marketing agency, hired five new people. They are Jason Frummet as senior account director, Charlie Worcester as senior designer, Daniel Brockley as senior copywriter, Amber Lanni as account manager and Katie Burnett as administrative coordinator.
The Seattle office of law firm Davis Wright Tremaine said Fred Burnside, a partner in the firm, has been elected to The American Law Institute. About 4,090 attorneys across the nation are members. Election to the institute is a competitive process. The institute is based in Philadelphia.

Federal Way-based Weyerhaeuser Co. promoted Claire S. Grace to vice president. Grace will retain her roles as corporate secretary and assistant general counsel, which she has held since 2000. Grace joined Weyerhaeuser in 1997.
Law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis has opened an office in Paris. The new location is part of the firm's growth in Europe. It now has offices in London and Berlin. K&L Gates has 1,500 lawyers in 24 offices in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Prospera Wealth Management of Spokane has acquired APC Financial Services of Bellevue. Chad Parmenter, director of Wealth Care Services at APC Financial, has joined Prospera as an owner and wealth planning consultant. Prospera is an affiliate of LeMaster Daniels, certified public accountants and advisors.
The Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America announced its new officers. They are Janelle Guthrie as president, Linda Elliott Farmer as VP administration, Jennifer Hawton as VP programs, J. Ryan Shannon as VP membership, Troy Brown as VP education, Rita Brautigam as secretary, mentors program and Erik Elvejord as treasurer.
Seattle-based OnRequest Images said its co-founder and CEO, David Norris, plans to transition to the role of chairman and chief strategy officer by early 2009. OnRequest Images is a worldwide provider of custom imagery.
