Fresh Cup Magazine in Portland hired Dan Leif as associate editor. Leif was a copy editor at New York City-based marketing industry trade publication, Advertising Age, where he edited and wrote headlines. Fresh Cup covers specialty coffee and tea.

Wells Fargo Wealth Management

Sterling Sankey, a 23-year financial services veteran, has been named regional manager for Bellevue's Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group. Sankey will lead 57 team members. He was recently a senior private banking regional manager in Seattle.

Charter Bank

Charter Bank in Bellevue hired James Garvey as president and chief operating officer. Garvey has 25 years of banking industry and management experience, and recently worked at Flagship Bank and Trust of Worcester, Mass.

Federal Bar Association

Jane Pearson, a member in Foster Pepper's creditor's rights and bankruptcy and financial institutions practice groups, has been elected treasurer of the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington.

Winston & Cashatt

Law firm Winston & Cashatt announced Ryan Yahne has become a LEED accredited professional. He is one of the few lawyers nationally and the first in Spokane to receive the designation for sustainable design, construction and operation. Yahne focuses on construction law.

Williams Kastner

The law firm of Williams Kastner hired Quanah Spencer, an enrolled Yakama tribal member, in its Seattle office as of counsel. Spencer worked as a public policy lawyer for the Yakama Nation, Coeur d'Alene Tribe and the National Congress of American Indians. He will join the Tribal Practice Group.

Anthropologie

Fashion and furnishings purveyor Anthropologie will open a store at The Shops at The Bravern in September. Anthropologie will be located in a 10,700-square-foot space next to Piazza Sempione off of 110th Avenue N.E. Currently there are 127 Anthropologie stores in the United States and Canada.

Windermere Real Estate

Kristen Greenlaw of Windermere Real Estate Northeast in Kirkland is one of 27 people named to the 2010 National Association of Realtors Leadership Academy. She is the only Realtor from Washington to be chosen. The Leadership Academy is a nine-month, five-session training and development program formed in 2007 to identify emerging leaders. Greenlaw, 39, is vice president of governmental affairs for Seattle KingCounty Realtors and was elected last month to be 2010 president-elect of SKCR.

Weingarten Realty

Weingarten Realty said Mattress Depot leased 4,000 square feet of space in South Hill Center, south of downtown Puyallup. The new store is scheduled to open in September. South Hill Center is anchored by Best Buy, Ross and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Brandon Grange handled lease negotiations for Weingarten.

Rental Housing Association classes

A class called “Marketing to Today's Tenant” taught by Bill Jackson will be offered today from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Rental Housing Association, 529 Warren Ave. N. in Seattle. The cost is $45. It is for landlords and covers how to market a property to desirable tenants, from writing and placing an ad to phone interviews. A class on “Advanced Landlord Tenant Law” taught by Chris Benis will be offered Aug. 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. The cost is $45 or $60 for clock hours. It is also at the Rental Housing Association office. The material builds on the “Washington State Landlord Tenant Law” class and covers more complex topics such as retaliation, defending against discrimination cases, tenant deaths, roommate changes and apartment relocations.
