The city of Bothell hired Bob Van Horne as fire chief. Van Horne has worked with the city of Renton since 1981 and is Renton's deputy fire chief of safety and support services.
Wells Fargo hired Roland King as district manager for the Downtown Seattle District. King will lead 120 team members and 11 downtown Seattle branches. He has worked at Wells Fargo for 13 years and was recently northern Washington district manager.
Bellevue-based Coinstar said John Harvey, its chief financial officer, has decided to leave the company because of the time his position required away from his family. Harvey was appointed CFO in June and has been commuting between Bellevue and Chicago weekly. Harvey will continue as CFO though November while Coinstar searches for a replacement.

Starbucks Coffee Co. hired Annie Young-Scrivner as global chief marketing officer, Michelle Gass as president of Seattle's Best Coffee and John Culver as president of global consumer products and food service. Young-Scrivner has 20 years of global marketing strategy experience, and was with Quaker Foods and Snacks. Gass is a 13-year veteran of Starbucks and helped form its partnership with (Product)Red.
Ryan Moore, a Pierce County native and professional golfer, will serve as honorary chairman of the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay. Moore won the U.S. Amateur in 2004 and has hosted two charity golf events at Chambers Bay. He grew up in Puyallup.
Accountability Services, an accounting, tax and consulting firm, has opened a new office at 5508 35th Ave. N.E. in suite 105. The company was founded by Elizabeth Mance in 1997.

Student groups at three universities — Boise State, Kansas State and Cal State Chico — won Outstanding Student Chapter awards from the Associated General Contractors of America. Boise State was selected as the top student group, largely for its work overseeing a complex project to relocate one of the oldest Abraham Lincoln statues west of the Mississippi. For its efforts, the school's Construction Management Association will receive $1,500.
The Master Builders Association of Pierce County received Awards of Excellence in the following categories from the National Association of Home Builders: Best Political Action Program Administered, Best Education Plan Implemented, Best Service Delivered to Members, Best Community Service Project Conducted, and Best Communication — Update Publication. The association's executive officer is Mike Crowley.
