Stephanie Berntsen, a shareholder in the Seattle office of regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was recently appointed to the Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Seattle board of directors. MAMAS was founded in 2006 to empower mother attorneys and encourage them to succeed while celebrating their dual roles. It has over 500 members.
Jim Wilcox of Wilcox Farms was awarded the 2009 Vendor of the Year Award from the Washington Food Industry for his commitment to the prosperity and image of the independent grocery industry. Wilcox Farms, based in Roy, has been an independent, family-owned business for more than 100 years.
Clark Nuber, a CPA firm in Bellevue, hired Bob Heller as a principal and State and Local Tax Practice leader. Heller was an executive director at Ernst & Young and has worked as the senior assistant director for tax policy at the Washington Department of Revenue.

Seattle custom residential builder Schuchart/Dow hired Drew Giblin as a project manager. Giblin has more than 17 years of residential building and architecture experience, most recently at atelierjones, and prior to that with high-end residential general contractor Fulks Inc., which merged with Schuchart/Dow in 2008. Giblin is focusing on projects and business development in Hawaii. He holds a master's degree in architecture from the University of Washington and a bachelor's degree in urban planning from Virginia Tech. He also is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
Kevin Kelley and Ray Leske, line electricians with Tacoma Power, recently won the pole-top rescue competition at the Governor's Industrial Safety & Health Conference. The competition challenges line electrician teams from the electrical utility industry to rescue a victim from a utility pole in a mock industrial accident. Kelley and Leske beat seven other teams from across the state.

The National Association of Corporate Directors named J. Shan Mullin, partner with Perkins Coie in Seattle, the 2009 Nonprofit Director of the Year for his decades of work with major nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest. Mullin focuses on biomedical research and health care.

The Gig Harbor BizBuilders Networking Groups Chapter named James Kruger as permanent chair to replace Alvin Mullins of Remax Town and Country. Mullins has taken leave from the group pending recovery from surgery and has stepped down as chair. Kruger was the temporary replacement for Mullins.
