In response to industry demand, the Construction Industry Training Council of Washington has developed an array of green building courses for workers and contractors, including a prep class for the Green Advantage exam. Other green classes offered cover solar panels and solar hot water systems.
Diana Painter opened a second office of Painter Preservation & Planning in Spokane. The historic preservation firm was founded by Painter in the Bay Area in 2002, where it maintains an office. Painter holds a doctorate degree in architecture, a master's degree in urban planning and urban design, and a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary design. Her qualifications meet federal guidelines in architectural history, and she also is a certified planner.
Skanska USA's building unit recognized six national suppliers at its inaugural Supplier-of-Choice Awards recently held in Phoenix. Northwest winners include MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions of Seattle and Alliant Systems of Beaverton, Ore. Suppliers were ranked in safety, sustainable practices, quality, schedule, third-tier management, diversity, internal training programs and innovation.
The Seattle office of regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt recently named Colin Folawn and Larry Costich as shareholders. Folawn focuses on disputes. Costich focuses on litigation and transactional matters.
Karla Heath has been named administrator of Providence Marianwood in Issaquah. Heath was the neighborhood coordinator for Providence Mount St. Vincent in West Seattle. She has worked for Providence Health & Services for 11 years.
Mayor Mike McGinn hired Tania María Rosario as his boards and commissions administrator. Rosario, a public relations consultant, has spent 18 years in political, community and labor organizing efforts on behalf of economic justice and civil rights.

Law firm Carney Badley Spellman hired Kenneth Hart as principal. Hart's practice is focused on commercial and business transactions, startups, real estate transactions and related litigation.
Seattle Symphony has promoted three key staff members: Jennifer Adair was named vice president and general manager, Elena Dubinets was named vice president of artistic planning and Rosalie Contreras was named vice president of marketing, communications and customer care. Adair has been orchestra manager for more than 10 years. Dubinets has been with the symphony for seven years and was recently director of artistic administration. Contreras has worked on the symphony's public relations staff for 10 years and was director of communications.
Law firm Cairncross & Hempelmann said John Rizzardi has been named to the board of trustees of the King County Bar Foundation, for a term continuing through June of 2013. The foundation's mission is to improve access to justice and encourage diversity in the legal profession.
