ALSC Architects

Webb
ALSC Architects' interior designer Lesa A. Webb earned the National Council for Interior Design Qualification certificate. Webb has worked in the field for 14 years. She is working on retail projects for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service at military installations in the United States. ALSC works on education, retail, military, sports and recreation projects, with offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Michael Willis Architects hired Melissa Guarin as an architect and Ian Flood as an intern architect in its Portland office. Guarin has eight years of architectural experience in education, retail, renovations, institutional and housing. She is working on the Monroe Water Treatment Plant and a modular office building at the West Point Treatment Plant. She also is managing two Portland Bureau of Environmental Services' projects. Flood is assisting on the Bull Run Supply Treatment project and the Chambers Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion.

Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail

Shannon Hitchcock is the new executive director of Zillah's Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail. She has 15 years of marketing and communications experience and takes the post from Shannon Bird, who is leaving to focus on her three Liberty Tax Service locations in Yakima. Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail is a nonprofit association for the 17 wineries within the Washington State Rattlesnake Hills AVA.

North Pacific Management

North Pacific Management of Portland recently added four hotels to its portfolio. Two are in Seattle: the Inn at Queen Anne and the MarQueen Hotel. The other two are in Oregon: the Ashley Inn & Suites in Lincoln City and the Ashley Inn at Tillamook. John Taffin, vice president of the Hospitality Division, is responsible for the new hotels.

Institute for Systems Biology

The Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle named Joseph Nadeau, PhD, to the new position of director of research and academic affairs. He will also be a professor. Nadeau is an internationally known expert in genetics, genomics, bioinformatics and mouse models of human disease and has collaborated with ISB for many years.

Bartell Drugs

Bartell Drugs will open its 59th store Sept. 13 at Factoria Village, formerly Loehmann's Plaza, in Bellevue's Factoria neighborhood. The store is at 3620 Factoria Boulevard S.E. It will be in a 15,000-square-foot space.

For its Seattle office, Andersen Construction Co. hired Derek Janke as senior project manager, Jeff Wieser as project engineer and Joel Rohrs as business development manager. Janke has 21 years of commercial construction experience, Wieser is a graduate of the University of Washington and is working with the Special Projects Division, and Rohrs has 17 years of commercial construction experience.

SandbagsToGo.com, a Snohomish supplier of sand-filled acrylic, burlap and polypropylene bags, has been certified as a Woman Owned Enterprise. The company contracts with local and state agencies and federal contractors for emergency flood preparation and erosion control situations. The owner is Christiana Castoriano.

Pape Material Handling

Eugene-Ore.-based Pape Material Handling joined Oregon OSHA's Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, which provides incentives for employers to work with their employees to find and correct hazards, and implement effective safety and health programs. Pape Material Handling provides sales, parts, service and support for material-handling equipment. Terry McCabe is the general manager.

Modulog Industries

Portland's Modulog Industries added a company-installation option for its customers in Washington and Oregon. Modulog sells do-it-yourself log siding packages.
