Kathleen Scharrer has joined Coates Design Architects as director of marketing. She has 25 years of experience in public relations and business development for architectural and engineering firms. Seattle-based Coates provides civic, commercial and residential design.
Trindera Engineering hired Joe Hower as an electrical project engineer in the commercial group. Hower has 22-plus years in design of commercial projects for higher education, courts, schools, medical institutions and office users. His background includes design of power, lighting and specialty systems. Trindera is an electrical and control systems engineering and consulting firm based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
BergerABAM hired Dominic Webber as a project engineer in its Portland office. He has 13 years in structural engineering for high-rise, commercial, mixed-use, and multifamily buildings and for parking garages and earth retention systems. His background includes seismic evaluations and retrofit designs. The firm offers program management, civil and structural engineering, land use planning, natural resources, public involvement, construction management and support, and dive services.

Law firm Bracewell & Giuliani hired Erin Hennessy as a partner and Matt Schneller as an associate in the Seattle Intellectual Property Group. Hennessy was with K&L Gates. Schneller was with Perkins Coie. Both focus on trademark transactional matters.
The Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association hired Chris Porter as a commercialization consultant. Porter is an industry veteran. WBBA's mission is to help breakthrough discoveries become better health solutions. In 2010, its commercialization team mentored 50 newly formed life science companies in Washington.
Seattle-based FiberCloud, an operator of data centers and provider of technology solutions, hired Andre Rincon as channel sales manager. Rincon has six years experience in telecom industry sales and will be working with the current Channel Sales Team to support the efforts of FiberCloud's reseller partners. FiberCloud has operated a resale partner program since 2008.
As part of its corporate reorganization following the relocation of Seabourn to Seattle, Holland America Line promoted Cyril Tatar to director of Seabourn technical operations. Tatar will oversee the completion of construction on the Seabourn Quest, scheduled for delivery in May. Tatar was deputy director of Holland America Line acting as project manager for a number of ship conversions and retrofits.
Bellevue's GLY Construction won a National Association of Secretaries of State Medallion Award. The award is part of Washington state's Corporations for Communities program. GLY was cited for its commitment to volunteerism and the community, even as the construction industry struggled from the recession. The company regularly contributes time, money and people to organizations such as YMCA and Habitat for Humanity. GLY was the large-category winner. Dissmore's Foods of Pullman was the small-category winner.
