Seattle Humane Society

Seattle Humane Society hired Brynn Blanchard as vice president of development. Blanchard joined the humane society staff as director of development in 2008 after working at the Point Defiance Zoo Society in Tacoma. Seattle Humane Society also promoted Katie Olsen to director of operations from shelter manager. Olsen joined the society in 2003 as an adoption advisor.

Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson

Seattle law firm Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson hired Andrew Goodrich as an associate in the corporate, employment and real estate departments. Goodrich worked at Perkins Coie where he practiced as a corporate governance and transactions lawyer.

Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless named Bobby Morrison president of its Pacific Northwest region, replacing Kelley Kurtzman who held the position for the last 10 years and has been named vice president of Verizon telecom operations in Basking Ridge, N.J. Morrison will be based in Bellevue and was recently executive director of sales and marketing for the Midwest region.

CollinsWoerman, a Seattle-based architecture, design and planning firm, hired Rick Osterhout as vice president of sales and marketing for its new division called Sustainable Living Innovations. Osterhout has more than three decades in hospital management and commercial real estate. His work includes disposition of 33 properties in the Seattle Monorail Project portfolio, and transactions involving Safeco Field, the former Rainier Brewery and the former Sears building that now is Starbucks headquarters. In 2004, he received the Industrial Broker of the Year award from the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.

Tetra Tech INCA hired former Washington State Department of Transportation bridge specialist Mohammad (Mo) Sheikhizadeh as construction engineering manager in its Bellevue office. He has 31-plus years with WSDOT, including as state bridge construction engineer. His areas of expertise include materials durability, sustainability, testing, structural repair and NDE forensic studies. Tetra Tech INCA provides transportation planning and engineering, structural engineering, navigation, flood control, mechanical, electrical, construction and survey services.

BLRB Architects

Axt

BLRB Architects hired David Axt as a specification specialist in its Tacoma office. He has 16 years of specifications writing experience, and 25 years of experience in architecture and engineering. He has been responsible for producing manuals for public works and historic preservation projects. He is working on Shining Mountain Elementary School in Spanaway. He previously worked at Bassetti Architects.

Pacifica Law Group

Six attorneys, each a partner in global law firm K & L Gates, have resigned their positions to become co-founders and partners in Pacifica Law Group. The law firm will focus on public and private sector clients in the Pacific Northwest. Pacifica Law Group is located on the 21st floor in the Second & Seneca Building, 1191 Second Ave. in Seattle. The six co-founding attorneys are Stacey Crawshaw-Lewis, Deanna Gregory, B. Gerald Johnson, Paul Lawrence, Faith Li Pettis and Matthew Segal.

Cactus

Vulcan Real Estate said a Mexican restaurant called Cactus will open in the new Amazon.com headquarters in South Lake Union. The 5,000-square-foot space will open in late summer at the northwest corner of Terry Avenue North and Harrison Street. Owned by Bret and Marc Chatalas, Cactus has three locations: Madison Park, Kirkland and Alki.

SightLife

Seattle-based SightLife, a global health organization focused on eliminating corneal blindness in developing countries, hired Scott Garrepy as chief development officer. Garrepy was development director for international programs at Washington State University and has also worked with the Atlanta Ballet and the Seattle Opera.

NoteWorld

Danielle Kiersztyn was promoted to executive vice president, general counsel at NoteWorld Servicing Center in Tacoma. Kiersztyn joined NoteWorld in 2008. Under her leadership, the business has achieved national money transmitter licensing.

Kirtley-Cole Associates hired Chad Rinehart as senior project manager and David Kortekaas as project engineer. Both are LEED Accredited Professionals. Rinehart most recently was president of his own firm; prior to that he worked as project manager at Walsh Construction and Turner Construction. He holds a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Emory University and a master's degree in building science from Auburn University. Kortekaas previously was a project engineer at Mortenson Construction and Whiting-Turner Construction. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Central Washington University.

Seattle's Schuchart Corp. hired Lorraine Smallwood as project manager in the Tenant Improvement Division. Smallwood has more than 15 years of experience in the local construction market, including tenant improvements and new construction.

Snyder Roofing of Washington

Jonathan Gwinner joined Snyder Roofing of Washington as estimator/project manager. Gwinner has more than 30 years of experience in the roofing, waterproofing and sheet-metal industries, and is certified as a Registered Roof Observer. He also is involved with the RCI association and the Construction Specifications Institute. Snyder's Washington operations are based in Snohomish.
