Weber Thompson hired Carrie Smith to lead its interior design team. Smith has done restaurant and hospitality design, as well as commercial and multifamily projects such as Enso in Seattle, and residential towers in The Pearl-Qatar. She designed restaurants in Boston and Chicago, and provided interior design in Seattle for The Martin for Vulcan Real Estate. Weber Thompson is a Seattle-based architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and planning firm.










Rice Fergus Miller promoted Bob Guyt to principal, Shawn Dinkuhn to senior associate, and Matt King, Jennifer Paige, Jeff Weis and Elin Headrick to associates. Alma Sisk was hired as an administrative assistant, and Rob Pfauth was hired as an architect and project manager. Tim Mahoney and Hope Zorrozua were certified as construction document technologists. Guyt is an architect who specializes in health care, senior housing, hospitality and retail design. Dinkuhn is a project coordinator who works on health care, senior housing and hospitality. King is an architect and project manager who focuses on health care. Paige is an interior designer with a focus on hospitality, senior housing and health care. Weis is a designer who focuses on fire and emergency services design and planning. Headrick is the firm's marketing director. Pfauth has 30 years of experience and will work on senior housing. Rice Fergus Miller is an architecture, planning and interior design firm in Bremerton.
M. David Stubbs, vice president of PSM Engineers, completed requirements for the Designated Design-Build Professional certification. PSM provides structural engineering services.
Woodland Park Zoo hired Dr. Fred Koontz as vice president of field conservation. Koontz will oversee the growing field conservation program. He has studied howler monkeys in Belize and Nicaragua, led safari tours to Kenya and Tanzania, and advised on panda breeding in China. Koontz was executive director of Teatown Lake Reservation in New York.
The Seattle Goodwill Board of Directors elected new officers to serve until March of 2012. Wayne Lau is board chair. Lau, a community banker and commercial real estate lender, has served on the board since 2007. Amelia Ransom Letcher of Nordstrom is the new vice chair. Markee Foster of Microsoft is secretary. Richard Pahre of Moss Adams was reelected treasurer.
Seattle's Office of Film + Music said the 2011 recipient of the Mayor's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film is Jennifer Roth. Roth has produced films and championed Seattle as a filmmaking city. She worked on “The Squid and the Whale,” “The Wrestler,” and “Black Swan.”

Law firm Foster Pepper hired Stephen Fisher as a member in its Seattle office. Fisher, formerly with Bullivant Houser Bailey, advises boards, investors and management in capital formation, mergers, acquisitions and financing
Fraser Mendel, a shareholder in the Seattle office of the regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was recently elected a vice chair of the Washington State China Relations Council. The council promotes stronger commercial, educational and cultural relations with the People's Republic of China. Mendel focuses on corporate law.
Pacific Continental Bank hired Douang Nonthaveth as commercial banking officer, assistant vice president. Nonthaveth will be working from Bellevue. Debra Hauser has been promoted to relationship banking manager, senior vice president. Hauser has been with Pacific Continental since April 2006 and works in downtown Seattle.
Edgewood-based Holocene Drilling added dewatering contracting to its range of services. The company says it added the service to meet market demand and client requests. President Jay A. Graham is directing the new service and Michael Bochenski was hired as a licensed water well driller and dewatering specialist. Holocene offers drilling, soil sampling and monitoring-well installation in geotechnical, environmental and construction dewatering applications.
