Carney Badley Spellman

Carney Badley Spellman shareholder James Lobsenz was inducted into the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. The academy is the premier appellate law group in the country with 300 members. Lobsenz's induction makes Carney Badley Spellman one of two law firms in this state with two academy members.

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance

Group Health Medical Centers has joined Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Network to become its 10th affiliate in the Northwest. The affiliation focuses on expanding access to cancer treatment options and helping foster advances in cancer care.

Benaroya Research Institute

The Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason named Kay Branz director of communications. Branz was vice president of communications and marketing for the American College of Healthcare Executives based in Chicago. The position was created to lead media relations and community outreach. Branz will also serve as executive director of communications for the Immune Tolerance Network, a federally funded clinical research consortium based in Seattle.

GHD, Inc.

Velimesis

GHD, Inc. hired John Velimesis in Seattle to develop the local water resources business line. Velimesis has 18 years of experience in water resources engineering design, environmental studies and habitat restoration with an emphasis on FEMA and EPA programs. GHD is an engineering, architecture and environmental consulting firm with more than 6,000 employees in five continents.

Michael F. Matthes of Wilson Engineering earned the LEED for Neighborhood Development credential. Bellingham-based Wilson offers surveying, civil and structural engineering, and LEED neighborhood development consulting.

Stoel Rives announced Richard Goldfarb of the Seattle office and a partner in the firm's Corporate Practice Group, was inducted as a fellow into the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers. The ACCFL is an exclusive group of commercial finance lawyers, jurists and academics who have achieved preeminence in the field of commercial finance law and contributed to the education of others.

Lisa Grueter has joined Berk's sustainable communities consulting practice. Grueter is a senior land use planner with 20 years of experience in policy planning. Berk, formerly known as Berk & Associates, is a public policy consultancy working on strategy, analysis and communication.

The law firm of Williams Kastner hired Jake Winfrey to its Seattle office as of counsel. Winfrey will focus on civil litigation with an emphasis on medical malpractice, personal injury defense and wrongful death claims. He was a partner at Helsell Fetterman.

Braun has more than 11 years of mechanical construction experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and management engineering from Montana State University. Delansig is a registered professional engineer experienced in HVAC, plumbing and piping design. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Venable has been in the industry for more than 10 years, specializing in energy systems evaluation, environment and laboratory controls, performance assurance, and remote technologies. Upegui holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from City University of Seattle and an associate’s degree in graphic design from The Art Institute of Seattle. She specializes in print design, corporate communications and public relations. PSF is a full-service mechanical engineering, construction and consulting firm.
