Association of School Administrators

Sturm

The Washington Association of School Administrators elected Paul Sturm, superintendent of the Pullman School District, president-elect for 2011–12. Sturm will assume the presidency in July 2012, after current president Joel Aune of the Snoqualmie Valley School District.

Holland America Line

Holland America Line opened a sales office in Sydney, focused on the Australian market. The new team is led by Director of Sales Tony Archbold.

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt

Regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt hired Lisa Sterritt as office administrator for the Seattle office. Sterritt was director of human resources for RNL, a commercial architecture and planning firm in Denver.

City of Bothell

Bothell City Manager Robert S. Stowe won the Award for Excellence from the Washington City/County Management Association. This is his fifth WCMA award. Stowe has been city manager since January of 2005.

DeVry University

DeVry University named Maria Dezenberg president of its Seattle metro locations in Bellevue, Federal Way and Lynnwood. She was campus dean for DeVry in Las Vegas and succeeds Dr. David Stewart, who was recently appointed center dean for Lynnwood.

Columbia Bank

Columbia Bank hired Stephanie McClain as a financial advisor serving the Tacoma-Pierce County area. McClain was a financial advisor at Edward Jones.

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo's Seattle Regional Commercial Banking Office hired Dan Burd as loan team manager. Burd has 28 years experience in financial services and recently worked as loan team manager for Wells Fargo's Portland RCBO.

Swedish Medical Center

Swedish named Anne M. Larson, M.D., director of The Liver Center at Swedish Medical Center. The center promotes customized treatment plans, including medical and surgical options. Larson was with the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, where she was medical director of the Liver Transplantation Program and Clinical Hepatology.

Town Hall Seattle

Town Hall Seattle hired Laura Hopkins as development director and Bob Redmond to the new position of program director. Hopkins was previously on Seattle Art Museum's development team. Redmond has 15 years of experience, and has worked at One Reel and Experience Music Project.

ATREG, Colliers International

Seattle-based ATREG (Advanced Technology Resource Group), a Seattle-based global advisor to the semiconductor industry, and Colliers International facilitated the sale and partial lease-back of the Freescale Semiconductor campus at East Kilbride, Scotland. Edinburgh-based Clowes Developments Limited acquired the 800,000-square-foot facility on 26 acres. Freescale is leasing back 70,000 square feet. Stephen Rothrock is president and managing principal of ATREG. Iain Davidson of Colliers in Scotland said this was the largest industrial deal in West Scotland in years. In December, ATREG and Colliers advised Freescale on the sale of another Scottish semiconductor facility in Dunfermline to Shepherd Offshore Services Ltd.

Guardian

Guardian Real Estate Services, a Portland-based management, development and investment company, hired Tonya Evans to manage an affordable housing portfolio in Oregon. She rejoins the company after 12 years working for Oregon Housing and Community Services, the state's housing finance agency.

Marcus & Millichap

Timothy McKay of Marcus & Millichap in Seattle brokered the nearly $4.3 million sale of the 35-unit Alderview Apartments at 300 11th Ave. in Seattle. The seller was Alderview Apartments LLC. Records list the managing members as Yvonne and Gerald Vierthaler of Seattle. The buyer was JBJ Alderview, whose members are John Teutsch, John Walker and Bryan Syrdal of Teutsch Partners in Seattle.

IREM publication

CREW program on the tunnel

Commercial Real Estate Women's Sept. 8 lunch program is about the tunnel that will replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Ron Paananen, who leads the project for the Washington State Department of Transportation, will talk about real estate impacts, development opportunities and other issues.
