The Northwest Public Power Association's 2011 Northwest Communications & Energy Innovations Planning Committee selected Snohomish PUD's Julee Cunningham to win the Lacy Peoples Award, honoring a lifetime commitment to the public power industry and marketing and communications work. Cunningham has worked for Snohomish PUD for 23 years.
Law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker hired Kate Kennedy as a member of the Government Contracts Practice Group. Kennedy was an associate at Eckland & Blando.


Berger Partnership hired Todd Bronk as an associate and Vandita Mudgal as a design staff member. Bronk has 12 years of experience designing urban open spaces, houses and waterfronts in Asia and the United States. He focuses on integrating landscape architecture, ecology and engineering. He is project manager for the Redmond Central Connector linear park and trail. Mudgal has degrees and experience in architecture and landscape architecture. Her experience ranges from housing to low-impact development in developing countries. Seattle-based Berger provides landscape architectural and site planning services.




Seattle-based NK Architects hired Tom Steidl as managing associate, Luke Held as project architect, and Marie Ljubojevic and Steve Fischer as project managers. Steidl has 12 years of experience combining business and design on projects ranging from stadium master plans to homes in the Los Angeles area. Steidl will focus on business development, multifamily and large-scale commercial projects. Held has 17 years of experience in envelope detailing and sustainability on commercial developments and homes. He will focus on multifamily and commercial projects. Ljubojevic has 11 years of experience in single-family and multifamily residential. She has background in international development and commercial real estate. Ljubojevic will focus on multifamily and single-family. Fischer has 20 years of architecture and design experience in California and Washington. He specializes in feasibility studies and conceptual design, and has a background in graphic presentation and renderings. Fischer will focus on housing and retail.
Jacobs Associates civil engineering firm hired William C.B. Gates as senior associate in its Seattle office. Gates holds a Ph.D. and specializes in geotechnical and rock engineering, blasting and hydrogeology. He has 44 years of experience with engineering geology and geotechnical problems. His background includes photogeologic terrain and fracture trace analysis, fracture flow and fracture mechanics. Gates is lead rock engineer on Seattle City Light's Boundary Dam Rockfall mitigation in Metaline. He is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer.
DLR Group hired Cassie Alexander as an interior designer, Tim Ganey as an architect, Joel Gragg as a marketer, Bernt Johnson as a structural designer, Thomas Schubert as an electrical designer, Erik Turner as a mechanical designer, and Aaron Asis and Denny Burke as intern architects. DLR provides architecture, engineering, planning and interior design.

Jeff Cleator, Jay Sorensen, Troy Bloedel and Bill Gormley were promoted at Lease Crutcher Lewis. Cleator and Sorensen are vice presidents, and Bloedel and Gormley are project executives. Cleator is focusing on strategic initiatives in addition to continuing as principal-in-charge on selected projects. Sorensen is also special projects division manager, responsible for small- and mid-size construction jobs. The company's top leadership remains the same, with Bill Lewis as CEO, Gary Smith as president of the Seattle office, and Bart Ricketts as president of the Portland office.
Carney Badley Spellman named Robert Weber a shareholder. Weber works in the Real Estate Practice Group, focusing on real estate, banking and corporate transactions.
The Washington State Bar Association awarded Seattle attorney Margaret Fisher the 2011 Angelo Petruss Award for Lawyers in Public Service. The award honors Fisher's work in the Street Law and Youth Court programs. The association also gave its 2011 Outstanding Young Lawyer Award to David Keenan of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliff for his work ethic and contributions to the legal profession and the community.
Doka formed a partnership with Masons Supply Co., which operates 13 locations in Washington and Oregon. Austria-based Doka is a worldwide provider of concrete formwork and services. Masons Supply sells products and services for commercial, industrial and infrastructure construction projects. It operates a forming and shoring distribution center in Ridgefield.
