Seattle-based Ferguson Construction hired Tom Whiteman as director of business development. Whiteman previously spent 25 years at Cadman Inc., serving the last 15 years as general sales manager for ready-mix concrete, aggregate products and building materials. He also was president of the Washington Chapter of the American Concrete Institute. At Ferguson, he replaces Tom Balbo, who retired last year.

Todd Bovey joined University Mechanical Contractors as engineering manager. Bovey has more than 30 years of engineering experience in the design and construction industry, including the Swedish Issaquah and Good Samaritan Patient Care Tower projects. He previously spent 10 years as an associate and senior project manager at CDi Engineers. He holds a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a certified ASHRAE Healthcare Facility Design Professional.
The Transportation Development Foundation of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association last week held its 13th annual Globe Awards. Two Northwest projects were among the winners: the Lower Duwamish Waterway Slip 4 cleanup in Seattle and U.S. 30-McCammon to Lava Hot Springs corridor improvement in Idaho. General Construction Co. took first place in the Ports & Waterways category for its effort on the Duwamish project. The Idaho Transportation Department and Connecting Idaho Partners, a joint venture of URS and CH2M Hill, won second place in the Major Highway (less than $100 million) category for the U.S. 30 project.

Radio station 88.5 KPLU and Arizona-based Market Enginuity hired Bob Nordberg as director of sponsorship sales for KPLU and KING-FM. Nordberg worked as general sales manager for KNBQ/KFNK/KHHO (Clear Channel Seattle). 88.5 KPLU is a national public radio station. Market Enginuity provides outsourced underwriting sales departments and represents KPLU.
Seattle-based RockStar Motel said it has added features to its digital media platform that lets artists and fans run the music industry. Features let users create marketing channels and an interactive fan base. It was founded in 2010 by Luca Sacchetti, a former musician, with the goal of making the music industry more inclusive.
Seattle-based eVenues has partnered with One Hour Parties to offer catering options to customers booking meeting space in the Seattle are. eVenues is an online marketplace for meeting and event space.

The Wenatchee Valley Visitors Bureau former executive director Roger Clute retired on May 15, 2012. Wendy LeSesne, director of convention marketing will serve as interim director until the board finds a successor. LeSesne worked as group sales manager prior to her position as director of convention and marketing at the Wenatchee Valley Visitors Bureau.
Portland law firm Garvey Schubert Barer attorney David Canary received a pro bono award of merit from the Multnomah Bar Association. Canary was nominated for more than 12 years of service to the Community Law Center and has focused his practice on legal and state income taxation for more than 25 years. Garvey Schubert Barer is a business law firm.

Seattle law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker hired Oakland-based attorney Alexander Bannon. Bannon has 28 years of experience and will practice construction law at the firm's new office in the Bay Area.
