Columbia Bank

Tacoma-based Columbia Bank hired LuWana Woodruff-Lentz as vice president and small business administration loan officer in the Vancouver branch. Woodruff-Lentz has 32 years of banking experience and was vice president and relationship manager at West Coast Bank in the government guaranteed lending group for 10 years.

Benaroya Research Institute

Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason hired Lynn Rose, PhD as the first director of scientific administration. Rose has 30 years of biomedical research and recently served as research associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the UW School of Medicine and a faculty director at the Institute of Translational Health Sciences. Benaroya conducts immune system and autoimmune disease research.

Seattle Aquarium

The Seattle Aquarium hired Alan Maxey as director of operations. Maxey has more than 25 years of experience managing specialized venues. He worked at Seattle's EMP Museum in management, operations and maintenance, and was Benaroya Hall's first facilities director for 10 years.

Mortenson Construction

Allen

Chris Allen joined the Seattle Operating Group of Mortenson Construction as integrated construction manager. Allen is leading the virtual design and construction group, which uses BIM to build safely and efficiently. He previously spent 13 years with the Weitz Co. as a project manager. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Nebraska and is a LEED Accredited Professional BD+C.

Skanska USA Building

Kowalchuk

Skanska USA Building promoted Don Kowalchuk to vice president of operations in Seattle. Kowalchuk came to Skanska 21 years ago as a project engineer. In his new role, he is overseeing superintendents, supporting project relationships, and providing project execution planning/oversight and self-perform management. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University.

West Coast Contractors

Coos Bay, Ore.-based West Coast Contractors hired Joy Jeffs as accounting manager and Tom Koenig as shop manager. Jeffs has more than 15 years of finance experience and holds an associate's degree in business administration with an accounting option from Southwestern Oregon Community College. Koenig manages equipment maintenance, parts stocking, orders and logistics, and coordinates crane service scheduling. He previously worked at Empire Wood Products, Coos Head Builders Supply and Ross Brothers Construction.

Canyon Creek Cabinet Co.

Monroe-based Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. won an Association of Washington Business award for community service. Canyon Creek was cited for its involvement with youth organizations, including Kids' Chance of Washington, Habitat for Humanity of East King County, the Monroe Boys & Girls Club, the Monroe YMCA and the Everett Community College Foundation. The company also provided a “real-life” manufacturing experience for University of Washington students learning about operations management.

Lane Powell is a multi-specialty law firm with more than 200 attorneys with offices in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and London.

Sedgwick LLP

Seattle law firm Sedgwick LLP hired Barry Mesher and Brian Zeringer to the litigation division in Seattle. Mesher focuses his practice on toxic, mass and municipal torts; premises liability; insurance coverage; product liability; professional liability; and labor and employment law. Zeringer focuses on toxic tort litigation, particularly asbestos personal injury cases. Sedgwick LLP is an international trial firm.

Destination Hotels & Resorts

Destination Hotels & Resorts and Red Lion Hotel hired Doug Phillips as regional director of sales and marketing. Phillips has 30 years of luxury sales and service, and previously worked as director of sales and marketing at the Resort at Squaw Creek in California. Red Lion Hotel on Fifth Avenue is a hotel and meeting center in downtown Seattle.
