Bellevue-based GA Creative hired Joe Bowman as business development director, and Kemie Nanstad as marketing coordinator and social media specialist. Bowman has 12 years of business development experience in finance, health care, nonprofit and technology; Nanstad worked for a children's product manufacturer, managing social media campaigns. GA Creative is a branding and advertising agency.
Seattle-based Fearey Group promoted Drew Symonds to senior account executive. Symonds has been with The Fearey Group since 2010. He created a “social media backpack” with satellite and solar technology for Swedish Medical Center's organ donation awareness climb on Mount Rainier, and climbed with surgeons to broadcast live from Mount Rainier. Feary said the campaign reached more than 600,000 people. Fearey is a public relations and public affairs firm.
Seattle Public Schools superintendent Jose Banda, appointed Kim Whitworth and Carmela Dellino as executive directors. Whitworth has been principal at Eckstein Middle School since 2007 and will be director for schools in the Northeast region. Dellino has been principal at Roxhill since 2008 and will be director for West Seattle. Both appointments begin in August.

Rushforth Construction of Tacoma appointed Jerry Eubanks as director of operations. Eubanks has more than 20 years of experience in construction management. Most recently, he worked for more than two years in Afghanistan as the area construction manager for the U.S. military base building trauma centers, housing and tactical operations centers.


John McGowan joined the AGC Education Foundation board of trustees and Rick Workman joined the foundation's executive committee. McGowan is president of Abbott Construction and Workman is senior project manager in the Special Projects Division at Lease Crutcher Lewis.
Renton-based Metro Glass Co. hired Mark Braunschweig as senior project manager and estimator. Braunschweig has more than 20 years of experience in commercial glazing, with 17 years in estimating and project management. His specialty is federal contracting and blast mitigation.

Chad Fisher is a new member of Skagit State Bank's board of directors. He owns Chad Fisher Construction in Mount Vernon.
Express Construction Co. of Bellevue reached platinum level contractor status in the ABC National STEP (Safety Training and Evaluation Process) Program. STEP helps contractors develop safety and loss-prevention programs.
Snyder Roofing of Washington won the 2012 Firestone Building Products Partner in Quality Award. Snohomish-based Snyder was among the 193 North American roofing companies honored with the achievement, which is given to contractors who install Firestone roofs, maintain them, and achieve low warranty repair ratings.
Seattle-based Athena Marketing International opened a representative office in Shanghai, China. This is the second international office, with the opening of an office in Japan two years ago. Athena Marketing is an export marketing and consulting firm specializing in U.S.-based food and beverage brands.
Americans for the Arts, a nonprofit advancing art and arts education, will present Paul Allen with the Eli & Edythe Broad Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. Allen is now a philanthropist, and started Microsoft with Bill Gates. Americans for the Arts recognizes his arts and cultural efforts, which includes a lifetime giving of more than $1.5 billion.
Seattle-based Nyhus Communications hired Karen Sung as director of public relations and Jonna Bell as account manager of marketing. Sung has 15 years in public relations and communications and worked at Callison, an architecture and design firm. Bell, also from Callison, led marketing and content strategy and has more than 10 years of marketing communications and new media experience. Nyhus Communications provides strategic counsel for global companies.
