Rolluda Architects hired Shanni Hanein and Nicole Gay as project designers and Grazyna Krewin as a project architect. Hanein is working on an urban space master plan and a mosque. Gay studied architecture in Italy and previously worked for other architectural firms. She is working on industrial projects. Krewin is an architect with more than 16 years of experience, specializing in educational, commercial and industrial projects. Krewin is working on a school and a retail tenant improvement project. Previously, she worked for Mel Streeter Architects.

Interface Engineering promoted Michael Troyer to associate principal and shareholder, Michael Larsen to lighting studio leader and Robert Dupuy to creative director in the Portland office to increase the depth of its specialty teams. Troyer heads the technologies team, working with offices in Oregon, Washington, California and Qatar. He has 10 years of experience in technology and low voltage systems, with a background in communications, audio, visual and security system design. Larsen has more than 15 years of experience as a lighting designer, and a degree in architecture and urban planning. Dupuy has 25 years of experience in lighting design and theatrical consulting. Interface is a mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firm with an office in Seattle.

Professional Service Industries

Professional Service Industries promoted Deborah Priest to manage the Seattle Tunnel special project. Priest holds a bachelor's in architectural engineering from California Polytechnic State University and has been with PSI since 2011. PSI is an engineering, consulting and testing firm.

GreenRubino

Seattle-based marketing firm GreenRubino said it has acquired brand strategists from Parker LePla to create a strategy practice within the agency. The entire staff from Parker LePla will be joining GreenRubino including Joe LePla and Lynn Parker as principal strategists, and Briana Marrah as strategy director.

The Northwest School

Jan Chiles, assistant head of The Northwest School's Finance & Operations department, was awarded the 2013 Ken White Distinguished Business Officer Award from the National Business Officers Association. It honors people for their commitment to their school and their profession. The Northwest School is a college preparatory school in Seattle.

Tacoma Economic Development

Tacoma Deputy Mayor Marty Campbell and city council member David Boe have been appointed to serve as chairman and vice chairman of the city's Economic Development Committee. Campbell has been a retail business owner and helped launch Go Local Tacoma. Boe owns BOE Architects. The committee reviews and evaluates concepts, initiatives and policies.

Seattle-based Waterways Cruises hired Katie Abercrombie as sales coordinator. Abercrombie joins Waterways Cruises after completing a bachelors of arts degree in recreation and leisure services. Waterways Cruises offers dinner cruises, brunch cruises, corporate charters and weddings aboard its luxurious yachts.

Chand

Seattle-based Hark hired Rajeev Chand as director of product development. Chand worked at Microsoft leading the core and engagement teams for the Bing website. Hark offers a platform for sound bites to create and share audio on devices or social networks.

South Sound 911

South Sound 911, the agency building an emergency communications system, named its first executive director: Andrew Neiditz. He has served as Lakewood's city manager since 2005. The contract will run for three years, with a two-year extension available. South Sound 911 provides 9-1-1 call receiving, dispatching and emergency communications in Pierce County.

Craig Ashcraft, Jim Gaskill and Chad Sorenson joined Express Construction as project superintendents. Express is a general contractor that builds tenant improvement/renovation, retail, hospitality, office, medical, banking and mixed-use/multifamily projects.

Mayes Testing Engineers

Salts

John Salts and Ed Smith of Mayes Testing Engineers were promoted to project managers. Salts is managing several Tacoma-area projects. He has six years of testing and inspection experience, and has been with Mayes since 2007. He holds nearly every ICC and WABO license. Smith is responsible for on-site project management. He has 23 years of experience in the testing and inspection industry.

KBA Inc.

Smith

Bellevue-based KBA Inc. promoted Roger Smith to principal. Smith has 24 years of experience managing complex transit, bridge and heavy-civil projects throughout the western U.S. He was a project manager for seven years at KBA, is an Associate Value Specialist and is active with the Associated General Contractors of Washington. KBA specializes in construction management of public and private projects.

R|Miller Inc.

Bothell-based R|Miller Inc. hired Jim Rodgers as a project manager and William Fort as a project engineer. Rodgers has been a construction manager for more than 30 years, working for the federal government, Kiewit, Construction Associates and SGA Corp. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University. Fort previously worked for CH2M Hill and managed construction of a secondary school in Kenya for the nonprofit Construction-For-Change. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.

Modern Machinery

Modern Machinery added Wirtgen concrete slipform pavers to its line of products for the road-building industry. Modern Machinery operates 11 locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho, plus two in Russia. It is one of the largest Komatsu dealers in North America.
