Washington State University hired Terren Roloff as director of communications and public affairs. Roloff worked for Spokane Public Schools as director of community relations and communications for the past 15 years. Prior to that she was community relations specialist for Empire Health Services.
Seattle-based management consulting firm Point B appointed Brian Turner to practice director of project leadership services. Turner, a 10-year veteran of Point B, has been a risk advisor for the firm and has worked in top management positions.
Mount Vernon-based BrandQuery LLC has rehired Matt Fischer as senior designer. Fischer worked with a book publisher creating cover designs and illustrations, and as the in-house designer for a nutritional supplement and skin care company. BrandQuery is a brand-enhancing agency.


Seattle-based Walsh Construction Co. promoted Maria Llobet and Afton Walsh to project managers. Llobet joined the company in 2008 as an estimator and has 10 years of industry experience. Walsh joined the company in 2006 as an intern and in 2008 became a project engineer after graduating from college. Walsh Construction builds affordable mixed-use, special needs and student housing, as well as renovations and historic preservations.


Residential builder Schuchart/Dow appointed John Hoedemaker as managing partner, with Paige Williams taking over Hoedemaker's former role as general manager. Hoedemaker joined the company in 2005 and became a partner in 2008. In his new role he is continuing to guide business operations in addition to providing project oversight and fostering relationships. He holds a bachelor's degree in art history from the University of Washington. Williams joined the company in 2007 as human resources manager. She has more than 12 years of management experience and holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine and a certificate in human resources management from the UW.
Bellevue-based Lydig Construction was honored by the Associated General Contractors of America for raising $110,000 for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as part of the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer event. Twenty-three employees participated in the event, with 18 reaching the summit of Mt. Adams. Lydig was one of eight organizations nationwide to win the AGC in the Community Award.
The Associated General Contractors of America installed its new officers for 2013. They are: Paul Diederich, president of West Fargo, N.D.-based Industrial Builders, president; Alan Landes, president and COO of St. Joseph, Mo.-based Herzog Contracting, senior vice president; Charles Greco, chairman of Houston-based Linbeck Group, vice president; and William Brian Burgett, president and CEO of Westerville, Ohio-based Kokosing Construction Co., treasurer. The officers will serve in these positions until March 2014.

Seattle-based DNA promoted Pete Hughes and hired Patrick Mullins as creative directors. Hughes and Mullins will share day-to-day responsibility of creative work while managing and mentoring art directors, copywriters and graphic designers. DNA is a full-service marketing communications agency.
Seattle-based Lighter Capital appointed Molly Gregg Otter as vice president. Otter was a vice president at AEA Investors LP, a private equity investment firm. Lighter Capital provides revenue-based loans for online businesses.
Bellevue-based DreamBox Learning appointed Peter Biere as chief financial officer. Biere was partner at Gottschalk Hardesty and CFO of GlobalScholar. DreamBox is an Intelligent Adaptive Learning company that offers different learning paths tailored to each student's needs.
