Seattle law firm Helsell Fetterman hired Andrew Clapp as an associate attorney. Clapp practiced law in Pennsylvania for three and a half years, and focused on clients seeking to buy or sell privately held companies through stock or asset purchases.
Seattle-based Frause hired Maria Cobaleda as communications coordinator in the Seattle office. Cobaleda's previous experience includes managing internal communications at Costa Rica's top public relations company. Frause is a communications and public relations firm.
The Port of Kalama commissioners appointed Mark Wilson as executive director effective April 1. Wilson now works as deputy director and will replace Lanny Cawley, who has led port operations since 1998. The Port of Kalama provides capital investment to create jobs and enhance recreational opportunities.
The Seattle office of Mortenson Construction added Josh Broussard as integrated construction coordinator, Tyler Franzheim as safety engineer and Lauren Caswell as field engineer. Mortenson Construction Kirkland added Logan Brown as project engineer. Broussard last year earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from Washington State University. Franzheim in December graduated from Central Washington University with a bachelor's degree in safety and health management and construction safety. Caswell recently earned a bachelor's degree in construction engineering from Iowa State University. Brown transferred from Mortenson's Renewable Energy Group. He holds a bachelor's degree in building construction management from Purdue University.
Woodinville-based Mowat Construction Co., Renton-based Guy F. Atkinson Construction, Seattle-based BNBuilders and Mount Vernon-based Sicklesteel Cranes were named four of the nation's safest construction companies in 2012 by the Associated General Contractors of America. The companies were four of 29 contractors that placed first in the Willis-sponsored Construction Safety Excellence Awards. The firms were cited for outstanding safety and occupational health management, risk control, safety training, work site hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation.
Synergy Construction of Woodinville won a top-tier Eagle Award at a recent Associated Builders and Contractors event in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Synergy won in the Commercial (less than $6 million) category for its Fire Station No. 30 project, which also won a Washington Excellence in Construction Award last year from the ABC of Western Washington Chapter.
The Tilt-Up Concrete Association elected its new board members and officers for 2013. The roster includes Shane Miller of Divcon in Spokane Valley as treasurer. TCA is a nonprofit international organization that promotes tilt-up concrete construction.

Seattle law-firm Helsell Fetterman hired Shawn Butler as litigation associate. While earning a degree from the University of Washington School of Law, he was fall 2012 associate supporting defense litigation. Butler focuses on health care, commercial disputes and personal injury.
Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle appointed Jeff Sprague as director of finance and Juliann V. West as director of restaurants, bars and events. Sprague was director of finance for The Westin Seattle, and West was the F&B outlets manager for Starwood Hotels and Resorts at Westin Charlotte.
Seattle-based Possible, a WPP Digital company, announced the relaunch of its corporate site, POSSIBLE.com, as a publishing platform and creative showcase for collectively sourced original content. Jonathan McVey has been promoted to global creative officer.
