Long

The City of Renton said Cliff Long has been appointed economic development director. Long was the director of economic and community development for Nampa, Idaho.

The Washington Society of Association Executives said Mitch Hansen, shareholder at Clark Nuber P.S., will receive the 2013 Associate Member of the Year Award. The award recognizes participation, example, leadership and service in the community.

Rice Fergus Miller hired Sabina Fiore as a designer, Mike Wright as an intern architect, Suzanne Pontecorvo as a project manager and Maiko Terao as an architect. Fiore has 12 years of experience that includes design, management and construction administration. She focuses on multifamily and senior housing and multi-use residential projects. Wright is working on community and housing projects. He holds a bachelor of fine arts and a master of architecture from the University of Washington. Pontecorvo has 20-plus years of experience in architecture and project management, including senior housing, hospitality and health care. She is working on senior living projects. Terao has more than 12 years of experience and is focusing on senior living and health care work. Bremerton-based Rice Fergus Miller provides architecture, interior design and planning.

NK Architects

Giampietro

NK Architects hired Joseph (Joe) Giampietro as a managing associate, specifically for his background as a certified Passive House consultant. He also oversees projects during construction documents and construction. Giampietro has 30-plus years of experience in real estate development, land use planning and architecture. He is a founding member of Passive House NW, which promotes high performance, energy efficient buildings. Previously he was at Johnson Braund where his work included The New Haven at Linden Square, 250 affordable senior apartments. NK recently designed a Passive House in Madison Park.

Dickman

WHPacific promoted Richard Dickman to director of survey in Seattle. He will also continue to work on on-call projects for municipalities. Dickman has 30-plus years of experience in surveying. He has managed large-scale transportation and utility mapping projects, state and county highway alignments, and land use development, and has experience with subsurface utility engineering. WHPacific provides architecture, building engineering, energy, environmental, land development, surveying, transportation and water resources services.

Loren Supp joined Gensler as a lead designer in the architecture studio in Seattle. He will focus on integrating 3D and interactive design tools, working in higher education and cultural markets. He has 10-plus years of experience designing for domestic and international clients, including stadiums, cultural and university projects. Gensler is a global design, planning and strategic consulting firm.

ALSC Architects

Buescher

Dave Buescher of ALSC Architects received his Washington architecture license. His work has included the Eastern Washington University Residence Hall. The firm provides planning and design, with offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Western Architectural

Western Architectural hired architects Kristin R. Andersen and James M. Davis in the Portland headquarters. Andersen has more than 23 years of experience in architectural design and forensic architecture focused on exterior envelope design, investigations and repair of multifamily, mixed-use, industrial, high-tech, corporate and academic projects. She has also contributed to the design of corporate labs, including the Amgen Helix campus in Seattle. Davis has 16-plus years of experience on housing, education, communications and aviation projects. He has focused on forensic architecture, construction defect investigations, and building envelope consulting, with recent remediation projects that include a high-rise in Portland. Western provides building envelope consulting, construction defect litigation support, structural engineering, maintenance plans, reserve studies, and capital needs assessments.
