Frause, a Seattle communications firm, has hired Karin Heidemann as senior art director. Heidemann worked overseas in Berlin and later worked with large design agencies in the Midwest. For the past 10 years Heidemann has worked independently.

Steve Hatfield has been named Wells Fargo's Northwest Washington area president. Hatfield will oversee four banking districts from North Seattle to the Canadian border, with 40 stores and about 400 team members. He is an 11-year Wells Fargo veteran, and was Seattle Community Banking district manager.
SNBL USA, an Everett company involved in primate research, named Alan Breau, Ph.D., director of laboratory services. Breau was COO and co-founder of CRO Biologics Development Services.

The Seattle law firm of Ryan Swanson & Cleveland added Stephen L. McDonald as an associate in the Tax and Business Groups. He has experience with tax law, business formations, investments, transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and succession planning, and is an adjunct professor in accounting at the Seattle University Albers School of Business. Brenton Twitchell was added as an associate in the Litigation and Business Groups. He joined the firm in September and was a clerk for Justice James M. Johnson on the State Supreme Court.
Russ Lee will become president and chief operating officer of Skagit State Bank on Nov. 5. He has worked as a bank loan officer, mortgage lender, chief financial officer, president and chief operating officer, and has an MBA from Western Washington University. Cheryl Bishop continues as CEO.
Urban Land Institute Northwest will hold its annual Emerging Trends event Nov. 19 starting in 7 a.m. at the Westin Seattle. ULI and PwC will release the Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2014 report at the meeting. Mitch Roschelle, partner at the accounting and consulting firm PwC, will be the keynote speaker. Ada Healey, vice president at Vulcan Real Estate, will moderate a panel of Len Jordan, managing director at Madrona Venture Group; Peter Kahn of Spear Street Capital; and Amy Price, chief operating officer at Bentall Kennedy. Seattle-based private equity firm Fairview Partners bought Double D Self Storage in Turlock, Calif. The facility was built in 1999, and it has 609 units in 92,708 square feet. Fairview Partners started buying properties in 2011. The company has invested more than $20 million into distressed assets.
