Detmer leaves Cushman for CBRE

Detmer

CBRE has hired leading retail real estate broker Susie Detmer as well as Stacy Reid and Inger Johnson from Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce. Detmer has more than 30 years of experience and has been executive director at Cushman & Wakefield since 2005. Reid has 11 years of experience in commercial real estate in the Pacific Northwest, and Johnson has been with Cushman & Wakefield for the last four years. Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce was recently sold to a division of NorthMarq Cos. CBRE has more than 300 offices worldwide.

Leinberger to speak at UW

Developer, land use strategist, teacher and author Christopher B. Leinberger will speak at the University of Washington's College of Built Environments Dean's Distinguished Lecture series at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Architecture Hall. Leinberger is chair of the Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis at George Washington University, and president of Locus Responsible Real Estate Developers and Investors. The event is free. Low-income housing forum Feb. 13

The city of Seattle will hold a low-income housing forum on Feb. 13 at Seattle City Hall, 600 Fourth Ave. From noon to 4:30 p.m. there will be an overview of low-income housing policies here and in other cities as well as two panel discussions. The public can give feedback at an event from 6 to 8 p.m. The forum is part of an ordinance passed last year that calls for reviewing programs to see how the city can get more low-income units.

Kent's assistant finance director Paula Barry was named interim finance director. Barry, a 16-year city employee, will oversee the 33-employee department while the city seeks a permanent replacement for Robert Nachlinger, who retired last month after 10 years.

IID

IID, a cyber security firm in Tacoma, is expanding its executive staff. Ben King will be the first CFO, Merike Kaeo is the first CISO and Mark Foege is the vice president of marketing. The firm has a cyber intelligence collaboration platform called ActiveTrust that enables enterprises and government agencies to share cyber incident data in real time. King was the CFO and COO at PhaseOne Communications. Kaeo has served as IID's security evangelist for the past year. Foege worked at Townsend Security.

In Lynnwood, Sparling hired Aaron Anderson, Kellen Davis, Drew Neskow and Tomas Martinez as electrical project designers, Crystal Berig as studio coordinator and Mika Abera as project accountant. Anderson has more than 10 years of experience working on electrical power systems, including six for the Navy. He is now working on projects at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Davis been an electrician on Navy submarines for six years and holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Washington. He is working on projects at Naval Hospital Bremerton.

Neskow has five years of experience in power and lighting systems, arc flash coordination studies, Revit and CAD design, LEED certifications, energy sustainability, and lightning protection, and a background in military and health care sectors. He is working on the UW Medical Center Montlake Tower Phase II expansion. Martinez has experience designing electrical power systems using AutoCAD and Revit. He holds an electrical engineering degree from the UW, and is working on tenant improvements at Washington State Convention Center. Berig has 10-plus years of administrative experience and works with a Sparling electrical studio. Abera has 15 years of experience in accounting. Sparling is an electrical, technology, audiovisual, acoustical and lighting design firm with offices also in Portland and San Diego.

He has a decade of experience in site civil engineering and transportation design, particularly in roadway engineering, drainage, sanitary sewer and water system design. SCJ is a consulting firm specializing in engineering, design, transportation and planning. It has more than 40 employees.

Johnston Architects hired Jane Gooding as a project manager, Taryn Rehn as an architect and Tyler Arndt as a receptionist/administrative assistant. Gooding holds a bachelor's from Wellesley College and a master's in architecture from Ohio State University. She is working on a new Seattle Humane Society facility. Rehn specializes in marketing, design computation and visualization. She holds master's degrees in architecture from Columbia University and the University of Oregon, and is teaching a design studio at Cornish College. Arndt holds a bachelor's in English literature from the University of Washington and has taught English as a Second Language in Korea.

HDJ Design Group hired Kevin W. Barney in Pasco as a senior civil engineer and associate principal. Barney has more than 24 years of civil engineering and design experience. He has worked on federal, military, commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure projects. Vancouver-based HDJ provides engineering, planning, land survey and landscape architecture, and also has a Walla Walla office.

Triad Associates hired Beverly Garrett as a senior project engineer. She has 27 years of experience that includes public and private projects, and has been a client and consultant. She is working on two east King County land development projects. Triad provides civil engineering, surveying, land use planning and landscape architecture.

Susan Sutherland has been promoted to oversee the Seattle Branch Office of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. She is senior vice president, human resources and statistics, and director of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion. She succeeds Mark Gould, who was appointed first vice president and chief operating officer. The Seattle branch serves financial institutions in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, northern Idaho and Hawaii.

The Fearey Group public relations and public affairs firm has hired Meredith Hickman as account executive and Susan Alder as life sciences senior consultant, and promoted Alex Fryer to director of public affairs. Adler was executive director of the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research. Hickman was with Waggener Edstrom. Fryer joined the firm in 2013 after nearly two decades of communications and journalism experience.
