Seattle-based AlphaCipher Acquisition Corp., which does business as Vadium, appointed Steven Lutz vice president of security technology. He has more than 30 years of information security and technology expertise, and founded WaySecure Consulting. AlphaCipher is a development-stage company focusing on security and privacy issues for computer networks and digital security systems.
ECONorthwest, a Northwest economic consulting firm, said it has made three new hires. The Seattle office will be headed by Morgan Shook, Matthew Kitchen and Erik Rundell. Shook and Kitchen join as project directors. Rundell is a project manager. Shook and Rundell were with Berk Associates. Kitchen was with Puget Sound Regional Council. ECONorthwest is also increasing staff in its Portland headquarters and in Boise.

Jim Potter's Footprint Investments LLC hired Cathy Reines as president and CEO. Reines has more than 25 years of experience in finance. She has been a partner at both a large national accounting firm and a smaller firm. Reines will work on projects outside the Northwest. Footprint develops micro-apartments, and has projects in Seattle and Portland, as well as Denver, Oakland, Detroit and New Jersey.
Kim Herman, executive director of the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, received an award from the Council for Affordable and Rural Housing for public servants who provide low-income housing in rural areas. Herman was instrumental in founding the commission and has been executive director for more than 30 years. He also led the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Rural Assistance Initiative in Washington and was executive director of the Yakima Housing Authority. The commission has used revenue bonds and tax credits to finance more than 275,000 low-income units statewide.
Broker sold 155 units worth more than $44 million in 2013 at Suncadia, a mountain resort 80 miles east of Seattle. It was the best sales year since 2008. Crews began construction on 57 new homes in 2013, up from 36 in 2012. In 2013 Suncadia started a Featured Builder program that speeds up planning and construction. Suncadia Real Estate Sales Co., the resort's broker, has sold 1,420 plots, homes and condos since 2003.

Kirkland Performance Center said Jeff Lockhart has been named interim executive director while the board conducts a national search for a permanent director. Lockhart is executive director of Creatio Institute at Northwest University and manages operations of a multifaceted music industry institute.
Southern Wine & Spirits of the Pacific Northwest has made a number of appointments in the senior management team. Ryan Lumaco is vice president, general manager in Washington and Michael Jeffrey is vice president, general manager in Oregon. Matt Haskins has added trade development to his responsibilities as Southern-PNW's senior vice president, wine. Southern Wine & Spirits of America is a distributor and broker with operations in 35 markets.









In Portland, ZGF Architects promoted to principal Chris Flint Chatto, Kristin Crain, Ellen Gyllstrom, Toby Hasselgren, Solvei Neiger, Doug Sams, Bob Snyder, David Staczek and Peter van der Meulen. Chatto has 12 years of experience on projects and specializes in high-performance buildings. His recent work includes Fifth + Columbia Tower in Seattle. Crain has 15-plus years of experience in marketing, business development and public relations in architecture and design. She is director of marketing for ZGF's Portland office and has worked for Google and Nike. Gyllstrom has been with ZGF for 22 years, supporting its managing partner, serving as liaison for partner and management communication, coordinating corporate donations, planning events, and managing administrative staff. Hasselgren has 18 years of design experience that includes higher education, corporate and health care projects. Neiger has 25 years of experience on institutional and health care projects, including Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland. Sams has been an architect for more than 30 years, working in the health care, institutional, commercial and aviation sectors. Snyder has 23 years of experience as an architect and project manager on projects that include corporate, industrial, hotel, housing, health care, research, higher eduction and sports. Staczek has 21 years of experience that includes office buildings, corporate interiors, retail spaces, pedestrian bridges, health care facilities, U.S. embassies and multimodal centers. Van der Meulen is an architect with 34 years of experience in designing academic, research, commercial and government projects, including work for the U.S. State Department.
EHS Design hired Charles Fritzemeier as a senior architect and project manager, and Jeffrey Brajcich as an intern architect. Fritzemeier has experience in public and private projects, and a background in anthropology. He has also spent much of his career in marketing and business development, and will continue to do that at EHS. Brajcich has five-plus years of experience that includes using BIM. EHS is a Seattle-based interior design and architecture firm.
Theresa Turpin joined SCJ Alliance as a senior planner. Turpin has a background in permitting and regulatory compliance with SEPA, NEPA, FHWA and HUD, and has worked on wetlands and shorelines. SCJ provides engineering, design, transportation and planning consulting.




Abbott Construction hired Chad Falgout as superintendent, Jeff Phillips and Chris Lee as project managers, and Chris Wiberg as project engineer. Falgout has 24 years of hands-on construction experience. Phillips has 22 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington. Lee has 19 years of experience in both field supervision and project management, and is a LEED AP BD+C. Wiberg holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University.



Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, hired Jim West as safety director, and Eldon Kiel and Andy Brown as senior project managers. All three work in the Washington State Division in Seattle. West has 30 years of safety and risk management experience in the construction and timber industries, including 22 years at the state Department of Labor and Industries. He holds a bachelor's degree in forestry from the University of Washington, is a certified OSHA instructor and is a Certified Safety Professional. Kiel has 15 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of British Columbia. Brown has 23 years of industry experience, including 14 years at Wright as a project manager in Guam, Portland and Seattle. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration/construction engineering management from Oregon State University.



PSF Mechanical hired Xay Keomongkhoun as network administrator, Samantha DeBella as Nordstrom Team administrative assistant and Mary Beth Thurman as administrative assistant for the Special Projects Tenant Improvements Department. Keomongkhoun has 20 years of IT experience and holds an associate's degree in computer networking and electronics technology from Edmonds Community College. DeBella has seven years of administrative experience and is a graduate of Rutgers University. Thurman has five years of experience and holds a bachelor's degree in English from Mississippi State University.
Everett-based Goldfinch Bros. promoted Scott Murphy to president. Murphy joined the company in 2008 as chief operating and financial officer. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Washington, serves on the Everett City Council, and is a board member for Mountain Pacific Bank and the Greater Everett Community Foundation. Goldfinch is a glass and glazing company serving commercial and residential markets since 1892.
Martha Rose of Martha Rose Construction in Seattle was named Builder Advocate of the Year as part of the 2014 NAHBGreen Awards given by the National Association of Home Builders. The award was presented earlier this month at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas. Rose is the 2014 president of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties.
Juli Bacon was named PWB Woman of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders Professional Women in Building Council. Bacon is from JB Consulting Systems in Woodinville. She is chair of the PWB Council at the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties.
