Seattle Public Schools

Seattle Public Schools named Stacy Howard media relations specialist, replacing Teresa Wippel. Howard worked at Seattle University as media relations specialist, and also handled media and communications in Haiti for the Salvation Army, and was an assignment editor at KOMO TV.

Atigeo

Bellevue-based Atigeo, which describes itself as a “compassionate technology company,” said two tech veterans have joined the executive team: Ellen McDermott, formerly of Microsoft and JPMorgan Chase, is chief information security officer, and Scott Mahan, formerly of Bsquare, is chief financial officer. McDermott has more than 25 years of security experience and led a security team through the JPMorgan-Chase merger. Mahan's background is in software and public accounting.

Helsell Fetterman

Debra Akhbari joined Helsell Fetterman as an associate attorney. She won the firm's Richard S. White Fellowship and was a summer associate in 2013. She works with the litigation practice group.

NBS gets financing for Tumwater office building

Town Center East III was built in 2006.

Jeff Henderson and Zack Goodwin of NBS Financial Services arranged $26.7 million in permanent financing for Town Center East III, a five-story 157,625-square-foot building in Tumwater.

NBS Financial represented both the lender and borrower.

The structure was built in 2006 as part of a campus for the state of Washington.

NBS Financial is the financing arm of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson, a commercial real estate company in Portland.




Tour Bainbridge with ULI Sept. 11

Urban Land Institute Northwest will hold a walking tour of Bainbridge Island Sept. 11 looking at the arts community, public amenities, sustainable development and future growth. The tour starts with networking at Bainbridge Museum of Art, followed by stops at Grow Community and Ericksen Cottages. GMA conference Nov. 3-4

Law Seminars International will hold a two-day conference on the state's Growth Management Act and its effects on real estate Nov. 3 and 4 at Renaissance Seattle Hotel. Garvey Schubert Barer attorney Sara P. Sandford is vice chair of the American Bar Association Section of International Law. Sandford works with clients doing businesses across borders, particularly in Japan, Canada and Pacific Rim countries. She will supervise section committees and task forces, and help plan events and programs.

Crestbrook Insurance

Crestbrook Insurance Co., an affluent market personal lines carrier based in Scottsdale, Arizona, will expand into Oregon and Washington. It is a Nationwide Insurance subsidiary, and offers products and services designed for affluent homeowners.

REI

Outdoor gear and apparel retailer REI promoted CFO Eric Artz to the additional role of chief operating officer and Susan Viscon from vice president to senior vice president of merchandising. Artz now oversees digital retail and will continue to lead the Finance, Information Technology, Real Estate, Supply Chain and Corporate Strategy divisions. He joined REI in 2012 as CFO. Viscon joined REI in 1997.
