In Tacoma, GeoEngineers hired Ryan Pearson as a civil engineer in the natural resources group, Chris Newton and Basel Kitmitto as geotechnical engineers and Kate Haney as a project coordinator for SmartMine, the firm's applied technology group. In Seattle, it hired Winston Chen as a senior environmental engineer, John Farleigh as a civil engineer and Johanna Neff as an administrative coordinator. In Redmond, it hired Derek Salinas as a field technician, Kyle Smith as a geotechnical engineer, Tanna DeRuyter as a hydrogeologist, Alexandria Cochrane and Hayley Hinman as geologists, Sharon Paulson as a billing coordinator, David Schwendeman as an accounts payable clerk, Anna Sielski as a recruiter and Jordan Awe as a systems administrator in IT. GeoEngineers is an earth science, engineering and technology consulting firm based in Seattle with 13 U.S. offices.


The Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, office of Trindera Engineering hired Justin Manning as a designer and Wally John Beck as a project engineer. Manning has designed substations and bridges using AutoCAD. He holds an associate's degree in design drafting technology from ITT Technical Institute. Beck has experience in telecom site development and electrical analysis, and most recently was a technical analyst with Wolfe-SBMC in Spokane. He has a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho. Trindera is an electrical and control systems engineering and consulting firm. It has an office in Spokane.

Moffatt & Nichol promoted Bruce I. Ostbo as business unit leader in Seattle, replacing Tom McCullough, who will lead major projects in the United States and abroad. Ostbo is a structural engineer and engineer-diver who joined the firm in 2012, bringing more than 30 years of experience in bridge design, marine structures, inspection and rehabilitation for ports, private sector clients and government agencies.
Coffman Engineers hired senior fire protection engineers Bob Libby and Byron Briese and will offer fire protection engineering services globally. Libby and Briese have nearly seven decades of collective experience, and held executive roles at a major fire protection firm. Libby recently managed and developed work in new sectors and opened offices worldwide. Briese recently managed and developed international clients. Coffman provides engineering services including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, process piping, instrumentation and controls, and corrosion control engineering as well as project management, commissioning and land surveying.
Professional Service Industries hired Michael Kath as manager of the Tacoma office. Kath holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Oregon State University. PSI provides environmental, engineering and testing services, and is based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
Kirk Utzinger, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County, is leaving Jan. 2 to take a new job with Yellowstone Park Foundation in Montana. Kevin Hunter is now acting CEO. He has been part of the group's senior leadership and VP of development and community engagement since 2012.
Clark Nuber, a CPA and acounting firm in Bellevue, made several new hires. Miguel Cornejo is an accounting and consulting services associate. New audit associates are Jim Harlin, Jennifer Lam, Michelle Spruch and Cassie Stanford. Taylor Martin is a tax associate.
David Rossiter is director of the Center for Canadian-American Studies at Western Washington University. He is an associate professor in the Department of Environmental Studies at Huxley College and a faculty member in Canadian-American studies. Former director Don Alper is retiring at the end of the year.
