Department of Commerce

The Washington State Department of Commerce named Dr. Joseph Williams to lead state efforts to expand the $40-billion information and communication technology industry in Washington. The industry employs 200,000 people in 14,000 companies. Williams was dean of the School of Business, Government and Economics at Seattle Pacific University, and also held executive positions at Microsoft and Sun Microsystems.

Pierce County Superior Court

Pierce County Superior Court named Chris Gaddis court administrator. Gaddis has had a 23-year career in law enforcement and has been chief of police and acting city manager for Normandy Park. The administrator is responsible for overall operations.

Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce

Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority and Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce have announced a partnership and said the Southwest Chamber will become Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce. They will remain independent but collaborate on promoting the Seattle Southside.

Gig Harbor-based Rush Residential hired Renee Parker as sales and production administrator, Jessica Hecker as purchasing assistant and Trevor Sherman as carpenter. Parker is a former community manager and data analyst in the areas of clinical research and mortgage banking. She's also a Lean Six Sigma administrator. Hecker started in the homebuilding industry in 1998, working with accounts payable, permitting and compliance. Sherman has many years of carpentry experience. Rush expects an 80 percent jump this year in sales of its custom homes.

Oregon Tile & Marble

Portland-based Oregon Tile & Marble is now part of Bedrosians Tile and Stone. Oregon Tile operates in Portland, Medford, Seattle, Boise and Spokane. Bedrosians says it has worked with Oregon Tile for 30 years. Oregon Tile's new name is Oregon Tile & Marble a Bedrosians Company. Bedrosians has more than 40 branches, mostly in the West but also in the Southeast.

Julie H. Seidenstein has joined Lane Powell as counsel to the firm's Real Estate Practice Group, where she will concentrate on transactional real estate and project financing for regional and national clients. She represents institutional lenders, finance companies and borrowers on construction and permanent loans for retail, office, hospitality, multifamily and mixed-use properties.

Judicial Conference of the United States

Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., has appointed three judges from federal courts in the Ninth Circuit to lead committees of the Judicial Conference of the United States, the governing body of the judicial branch. They include Chief District Judge Ricardo S. Martinez of U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, who will chair the committee on criminal law.

Small ship cruise line Windstar Cruises hired six people to work in corporate operations after doubling its fleet in the last two years. It employs 120 people in the Pacific Northwest and about 700 worldwide. Doug Santoni is vice president of deployment and revenue operations. He has worked at Royal Caribbean Cruises and Boeing. Peter Beck is vice president of accounting and worked for Seattle-based Columbia Hospitality. Mary Schimmelman is director of public relations and social media, and worked for Holland America Line. Brian Kimmons is director of information technology and was with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. Gina Smith is controller and worked at the Bellevue Club. Jay Juang is risk manager, with experience at Mitsui Sumitomo Marine Insurance.

Puget Sound Bank

Puget Sound Bank promoted Dean T. Peterson to vice president, relationship manager. Peterson joined Puget Sound Bank in 2013, and was promoted to assistant vice president, relationship manager.

Alison Lorig joins Bridge Housing

Alison Lorig has joined Bridge Housing as senior vice president of development for the Pacific Northwest. She was president and co-owner of the Seattle-based developer Lorig Associates and Lorig Management Services, the property management division. Lorig oversaw more than $500 million in projects and helped create more than 650 units of affordable housing for local nonprofits. Bridge Housing is a nonprofit developer based in San Francisco that has worked on more than 16,000 units in California and the Northwest.

Hanson joins HFF in Portland

HFF hired Brian Hanson in Portland as a director focused on multifamily housing and middle market sales in the Pacific Northwest. Hanson last worked at ScanlanKemperBard Cos. as a vice president and also worked at Massey Knakal Realty Services. HFF has 22 U.S. offices and offers debt, equity, investment, advisory and loan services.

2 Tacoma complexes sell for $9M

Tim Ufkes of Berkadia's Seattle office and Jim Jensen of the Tacoma office negotiated the sale of two Tacoma apartment complexes with 136 units. The combined sale price was $9.3 million, or approximately $68,015 per unit. They are The Vintage, an 84-unit property at 518 S. Seventh St. built in 1929, and Pennington, a 52-unit complex at 702 Martin Luther King Jr. Way built in 1931. The buyer was Orbeth LLC of Seattle, and it plans to renovate units and common areas in both properties.
