Seattle 4 Rotary Club

Bobanick

Caroline Bobanick has been named manager of the Seattle 4 Rotary Club. Bobanick was executive director for two local nonprofits. She will support the club's 500 members and produce the weekly meetings. Seattle Rotary is the fourth oldest and one of the largest Rotary Clubs in the world.

Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at WSU has hired two new administrators. Dawn DeWitt is vice dean for student and faculty experience. Luisita Francis is assistant dean for community engagement. DeWitt has been active in medical education leadership in the U.S., Australia and Canada. She is a general internist. Francis is a pediatrician by training, and was executive director of Excelerate Success in Spokane County. The college is preparing for an accreditation visit this month.

Lopez

At its Tukwila office, The Walsh Group hired Julie Lopez as project administrator, Larry Nygard as quality control engineer and Kenn Hallquist as heavy civil assistant project manager. Lopez previously worked in payroll and HR for 10 years at Paychex. She and Nygard are working on seismic upgrades to Building 431 at Naval Base Kitsap. Nygard previously was special inspector/lead inspector at Hayre McElroy & Associates in Redmond and Matriscope in Sacramento, California. He also worked at Materials Testing & Consulting in Burlington and handled business development for AAR Testing Laboratory in Redmond. Hallquist spent 16 years at Kiewit Infrastructure West Co.

Dahlquist

The Seattle office of Abbott Construction hired Sara Patteson as financial manager, Dan Dahlquist as service manager, Zach Tetreault as senior project engineer and Scott Miller as superintendent. Patteson has 13 years of experience in the financial industry. She is responsible for financial analysis and fund management in her newly created role. Dahlquist manages small service projects in the Special Projects Division. Tetreault is also supporting Special Projects. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Miller has over 30 years of industry experience, and is supervising a tenant improvement for a HealthPoint dental clinic in Tukwila.

PCL Construction Services

The Bellevue office of PCL Construction Services hired Steve Nickel as senior project manager and Mike Kozak as superintendent, and made former intern Patrick Van Epps a field engineer. Also, Don Daschuk transferred from the Hawaii office and Jacob Lehnert and Zach Lunden transferred from the Alaska office. Nickel has 25 years of experience in construction management and contract administration. He was a Marine and Vietnam War veteran. Kozak spent 25 years at BEK of Alaska, a specialty contractor that worked on several PCL projects. He is working on the Delta Seattle Sky Club at Sea-Tac Airport. Van Epps is working with the estimating team after earning a bachelor's degree in construction engineering management from Oregon State University. Daschuk, a general superintendent, has been with PCL for 44 years. Lehnert is superintendent and Lunden is field engineer. Both worked on the recently finished Father Andrew P. Kashevaroff Library, Archives and Museum project in Juneau.

Novinium of Kent hired Chris Sams as vice president of marketing and sales. Sams has over 20 years of experience in leadership roles across software, hardware and service sales departments. He most recently worked at Lexmark International. Novinium has an injection process that rejuvenates and extends the life of cables up to 40 years.

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo Middle Market Commercial Banking said Karen Fluegge has been promoted to regional vice president of the Bellevue Middle Market Commercial Banking region, which covers eastern King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and San Juan counties. Fluegge succeeds Don Grant, a 39-year Wells Fargo veteran, who is retiring. Her 19-person team serves companies with revenues greater than $20 million. She was senior vice president and head of business development for Middle Market Commercial Banking in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Washington State Fair

Karen LaFlamme is retiring after handling public relations for the Washington State Fair for 30 years. Stacy Howard, formerly with Seattle Public Schools, is the fair's new public relations manager.

Walla Walla Community College

Derek Brandes will succeed current Walla Walla Community College President Steven VanAusdle, who is retiring this summer. Brandes is vice president at Green River Community College and was a dean at Columbia Basin College.

Washington Student Achievement Council

Governor Jay Inslee appointed Dr. Rachelle Sharpe acting executive director of Washington Student Achievement Council, effective July 1. She replaces retiring Executive Director Dr. Gene Sharratt. The cabinet-level state agency provides planning, oversight and advocacy on educational issues.
