In Seattle, Mahlum promoted JoAnn Hindmarsh Wilcox, Corrie Rosen and Marjorie Eliason Brown to principal, PJ Bauser to associate principal and Stacey Crumbaker to associate. Wilcox is the K-12 studio design lead, and worked on Northwood Elementary School on Mercer Island. Rosen works on learning environments, and leads a firm initiative to use professional services, volunteers and donations to benefit local communities. Brown has three decades of experience and leads the health care studio. Bauser helps lead that studio, and worked on Peace Island Medical Center. Crumbaker has worked on schools for Seattle Public Schools and Edmonds School District.

In Seattle, Tetra Tech hired Candice Au-Yeung as a civil engineer, Thanh Cabral as an electrical engineer, Alexandra Der as a mechanical engineer, Alex Hoganson as a controls professional, and Jon Saito as an electrical and controls engineering professional. In Bothell, it hired Odesa Owrakijat as an electrical engineer. Au-Yeung is in the environmental engineering group and is working on Seattle Public Utilities CSO program. Cabral is in the instrumentation and controls design group. She has five years of experience in distributed control systems design, and is working on wastewater treatment plants. Der is a graduate mechanical engineer with a degree from Boise State University. She is working on the Kirkland Third Street/Fourth Street sewer replacement. Hoganson has experience in Programmable Logic Controller and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition programming, electronics and solid state design. He is working on programming for Cedar River Water and Sewer District. Saito has over 20 years of experience in SCADA and PLC design, programming, startup, troubleshooting and commissioning for public utilities and industrial applications, and is working on a project at Everett Water Filtration Plant. He was with Seattle Public Utilities. Owrakijat holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Washington State University and has consulted on municipal water, sewer and stormwater projects. She is working on Shilshole Bay Marina customer service facilities.

In Portland, PlanB Consultancy hired Jordan Henderson as a consultant, Christine Schlicker as a senior consultant and Amy Winterowd as a principal. Henderson has six years of experience, primarily in heavy civil and transportation design, including Sellwood Bridge Replacement in Portland. He supports the integrated services team. Schlicker has 15 years of experience in law, construction and government, and ran her own business. She works in integrated services, with projects for Oregon Metro and King County Metro. Winterowd had done business development, marketing and project management for professional services for over 15 years, and was an associate principal at Yost Grube Hall Architecture. At PlanB, she leads business development and supports integrated services. PlanB provides consulting for governmental, educational, legal, technology and biopharma clients, primarily in the western U.S.

Kleinfelder named Louis Armstrong executive vice president and west division director. Armstrong is based in Oakland, California, and oversee operations in the West. He has nearly 30 years of engineering experience, including managing domestic and international operations of major engineering firms. Kleinfelder is an architecture, engineering and science consulting firm.

CSM Corp. is preparing to open two hotels — Aloft Seattle Redmond and Element Seattle Redmond — and named Vern Heitzenrader general manager for both. Heitzenrader has worked for Hilton, Hawthorne and Radisson, and was general manager of Riverhouse on the Deschutes in Oregon. Jessi Mueller Pavey is the new director of sales and marketing for CSM's Seattle area hotels. She worked at Heathman Hotel in Kirkland, as well as JW Marriott, Viceroy and Destination Hotels & Resorts. CSM has a portfolio of more than 6,600 rooms, under Carlson, Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott brands. Aloft and Element will open this spring with 281 rooms in a single facility, with separate lobbies for each hotel and underground parking.

Pike Place Market

Can Can Kitchen and Cabaret said its artistic director and founder Chris Pink is the new mayor of Pike Place Market. Pink was selected by market vendors. Artist Billy King was the first mayor of the market, followed by Michael Yaeger. There will be a celebration Friday at 4:45 p.m. under the Pike Place Market sign to honor the new mayor.

REI

The Seattle-based outdoor co-op REI will relocate its Englewood, Colorado store to Greenwood Village this fall. The 45,000-square-foot store will be on Arapahoe Road and I-25, and offer a wider selection. REI has eight other stores in Colorado, including a new store in Dillon that opened May 5.

Leverage Legal Group

Jessica Eaves Mathews started a virtual, flat-rate legal firm in Seattle as Leverage-a-Lawyer. She said the firm has been renamed Leverage Legal Group and is expanding in the Seattle/Bellevue area to serve startups and growing companies. The firm's partners are Candice Owens and Seth Gardenswartz.

Seattle-based Schuchart hired Mike Fey as division manager for tenant improvement, David Peterson as director of preconstruction, Steve Litwin as superintendent, Jon Fletcher as assistant project manager and John Heffernan as project engineer. Fey is a LEED Accredited Professional with 25 years of experience in all phases of construction. Peterson has 20 years of construction experience, and is a specialist in preconstruction and development services. Litwin began his 40-year career as a carpenter. Fletcher has 11 years of field and project management experience. Heffernan is based in the Bellevue office.

Newlin II

The Gig Harbor office of Contrack Watts added John Newlin II as quality control manager, Nader Takawi as assistant quality control manager and Gary Alpine as assistant project manager. Newlin previously was an engineering technician for Pierce County Public Works/Road Maintenance Division, a construction inspector for the city of Issaquah and a quality control manager at another construction firm. Prior to that, he spent 21 years in the U.S. Air Force. Takawi relocated from Contrack Watts' office in McLean, Virginia. He has nearly a decade of engineering experience, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and of the Society of American Military Engineers. Alpine has 17 years of industry experience, holds a bachelor's degree in construction management and is a LEED Accredited Professional. All three men are working on an apron expansion at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Haley has over 19 years of experience in estimating, project management, construction operations and client management with commercial and residential projects. Roen provides cost estimating, value engineering, constructability review and project management services.

Lydia Gallagher joined Ash Grove Cement Co.'s Bellevue office as sales administrative assistant. Gallagher comes from Ferguson Enterprises, where she spent the last three years as client services representative. She holds an associate's degree in interior studies and design from Bellevue College. Ash Grove says it is the largest American-owned cement company in the U.S.
