The Department of Social and Health Services said Dr. Marylouise Jones will lead Western State Hospital as interim CEO during the search for a permanent replacement for current CEO Cheryl Strange. Strange was appointed by Governor Jay Inslee to serve as Secretary for DSHS, effective Sept. 18.

Andersen Tax named Stuart Ison a managing director in the Seattle office, joining the Commercial Practice group. He has 29 years of experience in tax issues. He was a senior partner at KPMG, where he led a global tax services team, and also worked for Corning.

CallisonRTKL promoted Roy Hague to vice president. Hague is a leader in the specialty retail practice group in the Seattle office. He researches global brand management and the link between brand promises and the built environment. CallisonRTKL is a global architecture, planning and design practice.

In Seattle, Integrus Architecture hired Casey Moore as a structural engineer-in-training, Samira Qayyum as an intern interior designer, Morgan Culbreth as a marketing coordinator, John Baldauf and Mary Rowe as project architects and Dhara Mehta, Toby Peterson and Anh Tran as intern architects. Moore has a bachelor's and a master's in civil engineering, focused on structures, from the University of Washington. Qayyum has a background in residential improvement projects and is coordinating materials for interior projects. Culbreth does proposal and interview preparation. She has experience in planning, engineering and solar energy. Baldauf has 18 years of experience on multifamily projects, focused on affordable housing. Rowe has a background in commercial, housing and interiors. Mehta received a bachelor of architecture degree in India and a master of architecture from the UW. She has a background in high performance buildings. Peterson has done public and commercial projects and graphic design. Tran has a bachelor of design in architecture from the University of Florida and a background in entertainment and residential projects. Baldauf, Rowe, Mehta, Peterson and Tran are in the PK-12 group. Integrus provides architectural, structural engineering, interior design and security design services.

In Seattle, RPS Group hired Jason Devaney, Jonathan Dolph, Kim Gorka and Dylan McCalmont. Devaney will support infrastructure and compliance programs, including stormwater and watershed planning. Dolph and Gorka will provide transaction advisory services, including merger and acquisition due diligence for private equity clients. McCalmont will support the coastal science division as a marine technician. RPS is a global firm providing environmental, energy and infrastructure support services.

SCJ Alliance hired Timothy J. Haderly as a principal environmental scientist. He has done natural resource consulting and land planning/permitting for over 28 years. He specializes in linear projects, in-water structures, mining, stream restoration and mitigation planning. SCJ provides civil engineering, transportation planning and design, environmental and urban planning, landscape architecture and design, and public outreach.

Mayer/Reed promoted Ryan Carlson and Elizabeth Talley to associate. Carlson is a landscape architect and project manager whose work includes urban, school modernization, park and ecologically focused projects. He is working on the OHSU Casey Eye Institute expansion. Talley is a visual communications designer and project manager who does wayfinding and experiential graphics planning and design projects. Her work includes the 333 Dexter Office Building. Portland-based Mayer/Reed provides urban design, landscape architecture, product design and graphic design.

In Seattle, Lease Crutcher Lewis hired Jerry Kessler as superintendent; Kate Legg as people services, senior generalist; Chad Tuthill as site safety coordinator; and Jordan Pierce, Keith Cox, Matt Smith, Josh Beloit and Moxie Oseland as project engineers. Kessler has 21 years of construction experience, with a focus on Class A tenant improvements. Legg has seven years of people services expertise in the U.S. and U.K. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Penn State and a master's degree in human resources and employee relations from the University of Western Australia. Tuthill interned at Lewis last year while earning his bachelor's degree in safety and health management at Central Washington University. Pierce has three years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management and business administration from Western Carolina University. Cox holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University, and spent the past 4.5 years on jobs including the 520 Bridge replacement. Smith has five years of construction experience. He is a graduate of the construction management program at the University of Washington, where he was CM student of the year in 2012. Beloit served in the U.S. Navy police, then spent a decade operating equipment and working as a project engineer. He holds a certificate in construction management from Pierce College. Oseland recently earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Gonzaga University. His past work has ranged from operating precision machine tools to an engineering internship at Boeing.

Seattle-based Schuchart promoted Jake Simpson to carpenter foreman and Eleanor Kertzer to division accountant. Simpson has eight years of industry experience, completed the CITC apprenticeship program and the AGC STP program, and is a Schuchart designated safety leader. Kertzer joined Schuchart in 2015. She is now handling the Building Division and Microsoft accounts.

Roen Associates hired Rachel Kodner as business development and marketing manager. Kodner has a background in marketing for nonprofits and law firms, focusing on web design and rebranding efforts. She recently moved from Chicago to Spokane after receiving a full scholarship from Eastern Washington University, where she will teach undergraduate classes and receive her master's degree in creative writing. Roen is a construction cost management firm with offices in Seattle and Spokane.

CITC of Washington

Chapel

The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington hired Jack Chapel as education manager, and recently held its 2017 graduation ceremonies in both Bellevue and Spokane. Chapel is in charge of hiring and development of all CITC faculty, assisting with curriculum development, managing craft training programs, and assisting with facility expansion and development. He began his career as a carpenter in 1993 and has since held both construction and instruction positions, including a stint as education coordinator with the AGC San Diego Chapter. A total of 91 students graduated from six of CITC's 10 training programs. Outstanding Student of the Year awards were given to: Jacob A. Notman (carpentry), Jeremy J. Burtchet (heavy equipment operator), Dimitris A. Trapalis (HVAC), Tony L. Abernathy (painting), Shawn M. Chadwell (plumbing) and Joshua J. Davis (commercial electrical).

Christopher Luhrs has joined the Olympia-Tacoma law firm of Phillips Burgess and will focus on real estate, construction, land use and business law. He has worked for Promontory Financial Group in Denver and the law firm of McCarthy & Holthus in Seattle.





Sur La Table

Seattle-based Sur La Table named Billy May as chief executive officer. May has over two decades of retail, digital marketing and eCommerce experience, and succeeds Diane Neal who retired earlier this year from the cooking and entertaining supply business. May was most recently with Abercrombie and Fitch as senior vice president, and has also worked at adidas, Sears Holdings and Lowe's Companies.
