Bethany Doane is the newest shareholder and leadership team member at the Tacoma-based creative and strategic communications agency JayRay. She has been promoted to operations manager after managing support functions for almost five years. She also worked as finance billing manager at McGladrey, a national assurance, tax and consulting firm.
Smith, a Seattle-based global commerce agency, has formed a strategic partnership with Mirakl, a global marketplace platform provider, to help retailers reach more customers with more products. Mirakl has over 140 clients across 40 countries. Smith has offices in Spokane and Ottawa-Gatineau, and satellite presence in Dallas, Dayton, Minneapolis, Montreal and Toronto.

Canadian REIT RISE Properties Trust named Barrett Sigmund as its new president. He moves from Security Properties. Sigmund said he is “excited to help RISE become more active from a transactional perspective, while growing its presence in the Pacific Northwest.” RISE focuses on the Puget Sound area. Local holdings include the former officers' residences at Fort Lawton, Bentley House in Issaquah and Northline Apartments in Seattle.
Washington State Housing Finance Commission has named six new “Friends of Housing.” They are: State Rep. Joan McBride; HomeStreet Bank's Dianne Wasson; Marty Kooistra, executive director of Housing Development Consortium of Seattle King County; SMR Architects; Spokane Housing Authority executive director Pamela Tietz; and Alison Dean and Jennifer Staplin of apartment manager HNN Associates. The Margaret M. Sevy Lifetime Achievement Award went to Seattle attorney Deborah Winter of Foster Pepper.
The Canadian advisory firm Bentall Kennedy, which has an office in Seattle, bought a new seven-story, 223,000-square-foot office building in Englewood, Colorado, on behalf of Warba Bank K.S.C.P. in Kuwait. The Class A building is next to a light rail station. Terms weren't announced. The building is leased to Arrow Electronics.

In Seattle, Mackenzie hired Steve Harmon as principal of architecture in charge of market and project delivery strategies. Harmon was vice president of CallisonRTKL's commercial and residential business sector. He has 37 years of experience in hospitality, mixed-use, residential and retail projects, including the Macy's Building renovation in Seattle. Mackenzie provides architecture and interior design; structural, civil and traffic engineering; land use and transportation planning; and landscape architecture.



In Seattle, DCI Engineers hired Sean Augustino, Kyle Loria and Kyle Montzheimer as project engineers. Augustino has four years of experience in A/E/C design and construction administration. He is working on the Seven Seas Building in Seattle. Loria holds a bachelor's in structural engineering from the University of California San Diego, and interned at DCI's San Diego office. He is working on the 145th Avenue Apartments in Shoreline. Montzheimer has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Washington State University. He is designing modular projects in Washington, Colorado and California. DCI is a civil and structural engineering firm.





In Kirkland, Freiheit & Ho Architects hired Julia Oddonetto and Kelly Brainerd as interior designers, and Angel Monzon, Jayson Laporga and Jenna Storey as architectural designers. Oddonetto holds a bachelor's in interior design from Northern Arizona University. She is working on 80th Ave Professional Building for RGM Commercial Real Estate. Brainerd holds a bachelor's in interior architecture from the University of Oregon. She is working on a dermatology clinic expansion with Miller Family Dermatology. Monzon holds a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Idaho, and works on office tenant improvements and exterior color scheme studies. Laporga has over six years of experience in architecture. His projects include Kin-On Assisted Living & Adult Family Home. Storey holds a master's in architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology. She is working on an urban shopping village in Puyallup. Freiheit & Ho provides commercial architecture and interior design.



In Spokane, NAC Architecture hired Landon DeFelice and Andrew Parker as architectural designers, Vitaliy Grechikhin as an electrical drafter and Don Potts as an IT support team member. DeFelice has a bachelor's and a master's in architecture from the University of Idaho. He is working on the Spokane Community College Main Building renovation. Parker has a bachelor's in environmental design from Montana State University and a master's in architecture from the University of Houston. He is working on Quincy Recreation Center. Grechikhin holds an associate degree in architectural technology from Spokane Community College. He is working on the Spokane Behavioral Hospital. Potts worked at Microsoft for 15 years and held other technology positions. He is assisting with help desk requests, IT purchase requests and related administrative tasks. NAC provides planning, design, engineering, and capital facilities consulting.

Stantec hired Ryan Cooper in Anchorage as an associate and environmental scientist, focusing on transportation, oil and gas, and hydroelectric projects in the Northwest. Cooper has over a decade of experience, most recently with an Alaska Native Regional Corp. In the Puget Sound region, Stantec provides engineering and specialty design services for buildings, transportation, water, waterpower and dams, and environmental services projects.

OAC Services hired Todd Smith as a project manager in the construction management group in Spokane. Smith has over 15 years of experience as a project and construction manager on public and private projects.
Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt hired Sandra Johnson, a health care regulatory attorney, as the health law group leader in Seattle. Johnson had a career of more than 25 years in hospital management. She counsels hospitals and hospital systems, physicians and group practices, RHCs, FQHCs, laboratories, long-term care providers and other organizations.
Washington State University Foundation gave the Weldon B. “Hoot” Gibson Distinguished Volunteer Award to retired Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Scott Carson. Scott chaired WSU's $1 billion fundraising campaign.
The Washington Coalition for Open Government will honor State Rep. Joan McBride (D-48th District, Kirkland) and State Sen. Mark Miloscia (R-30th District, Federal Way) with the Ballard-Thompson Award for 2017. They helped to improve public agency performance and accountability under the Public Records Act, as embodied in Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1594.
