LDC Inc. of Woodinville was awarded a $260,000 contract by the state Department of Commerce to help local governments increase the supply of affordable housing. Commerce said the firm will work with King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kitsap, Whatcom, Thurston and Clark counties to develop guidelines by December of 2018. Tacoma-based Leavitt Group Northwest said it has merged operations with Group Services Northwest. Leavitt Group Northwest is part of Leavitt Group, a network of insurance brokers. The merger does not affect client policies, and all staff remains with the agency at the same location. Group Services Northwest has provided medical, dental, vision, life, disability and long term care insurance for over 60 years.
Dermody Properties has acquired Meridian Campus Corporate Park in Lacey. Terms were not disclosed. California State Teachers' Retirement System sold the 18-acre park, which has three buildings totaling 459,551 square feet. Dermody will develop a new distribution building there with 318,028 square feet. Construction is expected to begin next month. CBRE's Monte Decker and Andrew Hitchcock will market the property. In a statement, Dermody's Doug Kiersey said, “The region's consumer demand, labor pool, transportation infrastructure and local corporate stalwarts such as Microsoft, Google, Costco, Nordstrom and Boeing make it a highly desirable industrial market. The industrial park's proximity to the Seattle and Portland markets will attract customers in need of Class A, regional distribution centers.” Bellevue-based Dermody has over 70 million square feet of industrial space nationwide.

Kidder Mathews said vice president and partner Kraig M. Heeter has joined Society of Industrial and Office Realtors Foundation board of trustees for a three-year term. Heeter specializes in the industrial market, often in the Kent Valley. Past clients have included, Weyerhaeuser, PacTrust, RREEF and Walgreens.

Hudson Pacific Propertieshas hired Andy Wattula, formerly with Beacon Capital Partners, as senior vice president. He will lead HPP's operations in the Pacific Northwest. In a statement, HPP's Victor Coleman said, “Andy Wattula has worked in the Seattle real estate community for more than a decade and understands this dynamic market. The strength of the Seattle economy continues to create new, long-term opportunities for Hudson Pacific, and Andy's experience and leadership will play a key role as we continue to expand in the region.” Wattula also worked at Hines and served in the Navy. HPP is a REIT with over 18 million square feet in its U.S. portfolio. Locally, it recently completed 450 Alaskan, which is half leased to Saltchuk Resources. The building is part of HPP's King Street Crossing, which includes six nearby buildings totaling 665,376 square feet.

In Seattle, McKinstry promoted Joseph Hagar to chief financial officer and Yana Lisikyan to controller. Hagar leads the firm's finances and accounting, risk management and financial governance. He worked at Deloitte, and at construction, software and apparel companies. Lisikyan reports to Hagar, leading teams on accounting, treasury management, projects and financial statements, reporting and asset management. She has been in accounting for over a decade, including at Clark Nuber. McKinstry is a national design, build, operate and maintain firm.







In Seattle, BCRA hired Al Gabay as a senior associate architect, Jana Simison as an associate architect, Mary Bisenius as an environmental graphic designer, Annathea Palmer as a designer, Jared Milne as an architectural associate, Laura Durgerian as a landscape architect and Angelique Penaflor to the administrative support team. Gabay has experience in resorts and boutique hotels, and office and mixed-use/multifamily projects. He was with IA Interior Architects. Simison is a Rice University graduate and works on recreation and school projects. Bisenius is rejoining BCRA. She worked at IA Interior Architects on corporate and retail projects. Palmer has experience with retail and corporate clients, and was with IA. She is in the interior design group, and works on office and retail projects. Milne is a Washington State University graduate. Durgerian is pursuing a dual masters of landscape architecture and masters of urban planning. She supports projects in multiple markets. Penaflor works with the design teams. BCRA offers architecture, interior spaces, civil engineering, structural engineering, land use planning and landscape architecture.






PCS Structural Solutions structural engineering firm promoted Luke Heath to principal, Todd Parke and Alex Lege to associate principal, and Brianna Schildmeyer, Kyle Murdock and Steven Williams to associate. Heath has been with PCS for 15 years. He is working on WSU's Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center. Parke was hired 11 years ago. His recent work includes Skyview Middle School/Canyon Creek Elementary School in Bothell. Lege has been with PCS for 10 years. He is working on Tacoma Town Center. Schildmeyer was hired 10 years ago. Her recent work includes Centralia College TransAlta Commons. Murdock joined the firm in 2006 and returned in 2014. He is working on Redmond Ridge Middle School. Williams was hired three years ago. His work includes Chehalis Elementary School. Lege and Murdock work in Seattle. Heath, Parke, Schildmeyer and Williams work in Tacoma.
Flow Fitness in South Lake Union said it is opening a second location at 710 N. 34th St. in Fremont neighborhood on Oct. 30. Owner Justin Young said it will complement the 311 Terry Ave. N. location, with an open design that resembles a large training gym, as well as studios for barre, yoga and cycle.
Dan Wartelle is the new executive director of First Tee of Greater Seattle, an international development organization that introduces young people to the game of golf. Wartelle is a communications and development executive with nearly 20 years of experience with area nonprofits. He was vice president of communications for Special Olympics Washington.
