5th Avenue Theatre

The 5th Avenue Theatre said David Armstrong, executive producer and artistic director, will step down at the end of the 2017/18 season after 18 years, and become artistic director emeritus, working as a consultant, advisor and frequent director at the theater. Managing Director Bernadine C. Griffin and Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry will now lead the 5th Avenue.

Lighting Design Lab

Seattle City Light named Irina Rasputnis executive director of the Lighting Design Lab. Rasputnis is certified by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions, and was with DesignLights Consortium in Medford, Mass. Lighting Design Lab is a commercial and industrial lighting validation and education service of SCL that works with contractors, utilities, designers and architects.

Ireland

In Seattle, The Walsh Group hired Michael Ireland as quality control manager, and Branden Reynolds and Joe Beitinger as project engineers. Ireland previously worked on the Smith Island Estuary project north of Everett and the Highway 99 waterfront tunnel in Seattle, where he was lead field inspector. Reynolds has 10 years of industry experience working for Boudreau Pipeline, Stellar J and Pearson Drilling. Beitinger previously worked at Imco General Construction on upgrades to the fire, life and safety systems in the Interstate 90 Mercer Island and Mount Baker tunnels.

Novinium

Gulezian

In Kent, Novinium hired Ken Gulezian as safety director. Gulezian previously managed and directed safety programs in the construction and electrical industries. He holds a bachelor's degree in health and safety management from Central Washington University, and is a certified Construction Health Safety Technician. Novinium rejuvenates underground cables for electric utilities.

Semiahmoo Resort, Golf and Spa in Blaine named Nicole Newton general manager. Newton has 30 years of experience in catering, conference services and banquets, and will oversee three restaurants, the spa and two golf courses. She previously worked at Semiahmoo before working at Columbia Hospitality and several Northwest hotels, including Hotel 1000, Sorrento Hotel and Willows Lodge.

Jones Soda Co.

Seattle-based Jones Soda Co. named Steve Gress executive vice president of U.S. sales. He has worked for Big Geyser and Vitamin Water, and opened his own distribution company, Exclusive Distribution, before being named executive vice president of New England Beverages. He will focus on building the Lemoncocco brand in the U.S.

Skagit Bank hired Andy Egloff as a commercial loan officer in the Burlington office. He has worked as a commercial lender for 13 years, primarily in Snohomish and Island counties.

Ashbaugh Beal has hired Sean Leake as an associate in the Construction Law Group. He is a 2017 graduate of the University of Washington School of Law.

MicroVision

MicroVision, a Redmond company focused on ultra-miniature projection display and sensing technology, named Perry Mulligan chief executive officer, replacing Alexander Tokman who resigned as CEO and director. Mulligan has been a director at MicroVision since 2010. Tokman remains as president through the end of the year. Mulligan was SVP of operations for Emulex and QLogic.

Magazine honors Sharon Lee

Seattle Magazine's November issue includes its annual list of most influential Seattleites. Alongside names like Governor Jay Inslee and Amazon's John Schoettler is the Low Income Housing Institute's Sharon Lee. The magazine praised her efforts to create both affordable housing and tiny house colonies in Ballard, Interbay, Georgetown and four other locations. Lee told the magazine she wants to have 200 tiny houses in place by the end of this year. Also on the list of honorees is Pike Place Market Authority's Ben Franz-Knight, who oversaw the MarketFront expansion.

Realogics Sotheby's International Realty hired Stacia Smith as director of sales and Seattle branch manager. She will oversee 85 brokers. Smith moves from Coldwell Banker Bain's Bainbridge Island office.

CREW topic: What's next for Vulcan?

The title of CREW's Dec. 14 luncheon talk will be “What's Next for Vulcan Real Estate?,” and everyone in Seattle surely wants to know. Dosenbach

Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America now has about 20 engineers in its Western Avenue office near the waterfront, but the company said that number will soon grow to around 150. The R&D lab will be headed by veteran local software engineer Mike Dosenbach, formerly of Amazon and Okta, who said in a statement, “We believe Seattle is the right spot to attract the best cloud talent for us. As the first OEM with a lab for cloud development in Seattle, we commit to this area and see the new office as a long-term investment.” The company didn't disclose whether it would expand at its present location or move.
