State Insurance Commissioner

The state Office of the Insurance Commissioner named AnnaLisa Gellermann the new chief deputy commissioner. Gellermann is deputy commissioner for the Policy and Legislative Affairs division, and joined the agency in 2013 as deputy commissioner for Legal Affairs. Before that, she was executive manager of insurance services at the state Department of Labor & Industries.

Fatburger

Fat Brands is opening a co-branded Fatburger and Buffalo's Express restaurant in a new casino being developed by Quinault Indian Nation near Ocean Shores. The restaurant is one of a dozen co-branded stores that will open within a year. The others are in Southern California.

Primrose School

Primrose School of West Bellevue is holding a grand opening celebration Saturday. The 14,400-square-foot school, formerly a conference center, is at 1150 114th Ave. S.E. in Bellefield Office Park. It has 13 classrooms and three playgrounds for children age 6 weeks to 5 years old. Shannon and Erik Peterson are the local franchise owners. Primrose has 375 schools in 29 states.

In Seattle, PCS Structural Solutions promoted Steve Farvour and Kevin Rothrock to senior associate and Brent Olson to project manager. In Tacoma, it promoted Kirk Keppler and Wes Neeley to senior associate, Dan Tappel to associate, and Abigail Messegee, Evan Olszko, Jon Thorpe and Tanner Reijm, all hired in 2016, to project engineer. Farvour joined the firm 19 years ago. He has been project manager on commercial, educational and residential projects. His recent work includes UW Denny Hall, and he is working on Magnolia Elementary School. Rothrock has over 16 years of structural engineering experience and specializes in hospitality and housing. Recent projects include Tacoma Art Museum and Tacoma Convention Center Hotel. Olson has been a project engineer. He is working on Queen Anne Elementary School in Seattle and Highline High School in Burien. Keppler has been with PCS for 21 years. He has worked on institutional, commercial and educational projects, and is working on Emerald Queen Casino in Fife and Foster High School in Tukwila. Neeley was hired 17 years ago. He has experience on institutional, educational and commercial projects, and is working on Webster School for Seattle Public Schools and Tehaleh Elementary for Sumner School District. Tappel is working on Madison Elementary School in Mount Vernon and the APA Tacoma Lab Expansion. Messegee is working on Tehaleh Heights Elementary School and Washington High School in Tacoma. Olszko's current projects include Skyview Middle School and Canyon Creek Elementary School in Woodinville. Thorpe is working on Stanwood High School and Puyallup's new Southwest Elementary School. Reijm is working on Foster High School, and Birney Elementary School in Tacoma. PCS is a structural engineering firm, with an office also in Portland.

Amrhein

In Seattle, DCI Engineers promoted Matthew Amrhein to senior project manager, and Danielle Jacobs and Amy Pugh to associate principal. Amrhein has 10 years of engineering experience. At DCI, he has managed Madison Centre in Seattle, and provided design and construction support for residential, TI, mixed-use and commercial projects. Jacobs has a decade of experience designing post-tensioned concrete, conventional concrete, steel, and cold-formed steel, and wood framing systems. She has managed TI, renovation, office, retail and mixed-use projects, and is working on Georgetown Crossroads in Seattle. Pugh has been director of marketing for over five years, leading an eight-person team. She oversees communications strategy, branding, market analysis, RFQ/RFP responses, and community outreach events. She is Seattle Chapter president of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

In Seattle, Schnabel Engineering hired Stephen Benson and Stephen W. Goodin as senior vice presidents. Benson is a senior civil engineer specializing in hydroelectric and other water resource projects. He was a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission independent consultant for Part 12 dam safety inspections and evaluations of 28 hydroelectric facilities. Goodin has a background in geological engineering and rock mechanics, and in geotechnical investigation and soils engineering. His design and construction consulting experience includes concrete and embankment dams, spillways, tunnels, powerhouses, nuclear power and nuclear waste repositories. The men have worked elsewhere together, and will mentor staff and be senior technical resources for projects. Benson also will assist with business development. Schnabel participates in planning, study, design and construction of geotechnical, dam and tunnel engineering projects.

IA Interior Architects promoted Lisa McCabe to senior associate in the Seattle office. IA provides architectural design and planning and workplace strategy.

Kent Municipal Court

Attorney Michael Frans is judge appointee for Kent Municipal Court, subject to confirmation by Kent City Council. Frans has been a trial lawyer in private practice for more than 18 years, and served as a judge pro tem in King County for the last two years. He will take over for Judge Karli Jorgensen when she retires at the end of the year.

Layfield Group

Layfield Group hired Joshua Venters as engineering business manager in the Seattle office. Venters has over 20 years of experience in the geosynthetic industry, including business development with Tencate's research and development department. Layfield makes polymer-based products for construction, environmental containment and consumer packaging.

Goodfellow Bros.

Goodfellow

Chad Goodfellow has become CEO of Goodfellow Bros., a heavy-civil construction company in Maple Valley. Goodfellow was president for eight years, and is a fourth-generation owner in the company's 97-year history. He replaces Steve Goodfellow, who continues as board chair. The company also announced new division presidents: Lane Shinnick (Washington state), Joe Correy (Oregon) and Ed Brown (Hawaii). Each has been with Goodfellow for about 20 years.



The Walsh Group

In Tukwila, The Walsh Group hired Mark Nonato as assistant project manager and Matthew Bender as project engineer. Nonato previously worked with Tutor Perini Building Corp. on the Hudson Yards project in New York City. He is assigned to the T-100 Link expansion in Tacoma. Bender graduated earlier this year with a bachelor's degree in construction management from Central Washington University, and was an intern at Walsh. He is working on a seismic upgrade project at Naval Base Kitsap.

Auburn Mechanical hired Chris Lermusik as division manager of the Special Projects Group. Lermusik has been in the contracting industry for more than 30 years. Auburn Mechanical specializes in mechanical design, HVAC, plumbing, fitting, refrigeration and maintenance.
