In Seattle, lawyers Parker R. Keehn and Christopher A. Wright were named shareholders at Carney Badley Spellman. Keehn joined the firm in 2012 and Wright came on board in 2017. Both focus on construction law.

City of Tacoma

Jacques Colon was named strategic manager of Tacoma 2025, a strategic plan for Tacoma's future. He was health equity coordinator for five years at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. Prior to that, he was a middle school science teacher in Miami and a policy analyst in Washington, D.C.

U-Haul

Stan's Restaurant Annex 2 in Portland has become a dealer of U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment and moving supplies. Stan's is at 1417 N.W. 20th Ave. Kevin Donohoe owns Stan's.

Colliers announces Everett lease

On behalf of owner RH Airport Rd LLC, Colliers' David Gunther has leased 15,451 square feet of offices at 11627 Airport Rd. to Evergreen Recovery Centers. Evergreen will consolidate operations from other locations. Gunther said in a statement, “Evergreen's lease will positively impact the value of an already-valuable building in a rapidly appreciating market. Most of the tenant demand in this area comes from industrial, flex or light industrial users, so securing a tenant for office space in an area with soft office vacancy speaks to the quality of the property and ownership.” He still has another 3,050 square feet available.

PMF signs Tacoma retail tenants

PMF Investments said its Tahoma Vista Shopping Center has secured two new tenants: Big Lots and Grocery Outlet. The shopping center, at 1414 E. 72nd St. in Tacoma, has about 115,000 square feet. PMF does its own leasing, and its Deborah Oswald and Blake Springer-Trybus have another 40,000 square feet available. Grocery Outlet expects to open in the first quarter in its newly renovated space. Big Lots opened in October. Other tenants include Taco Bell, O'Reilly Auto Parts and Burger King. The family-run PMF acquired the 10-acre complex, once a Kmart, in 1990.

Architects West of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho hired Robert (Bob) Schmidt as a project architect. Schmidt has over 24 years of experience, including on civic, K-12, higher education, commercial, justice and government projects. He was with Longwell + Trapp Architects and Integrus Architecture (Spokane). He is working on the Richland Water Treatment Facade Replacement.

Seattle-based structural engineering firm Swenson Say Faget hired Vladimir Berka and Evan Speer as staff engineers. Also, it promoted Lori DeBoer to senior project manager, Kevin Winner to project manager, Scott Wible and Bianca Casem to project engineer, and Randy James to drafting manager. Berka has four years of experience, and is on SSF's residential structures team. He is working on houses in the Puget Sound region, and San Francisco and Menlo Park, California. Speer has a master's in conservation engineering from the Structural Analysis of Historic Constructions Consortium at Czech Technical University. He worked with Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust in Nepal. At SSF, he is working on the 115-119 South Jackson historic renovation and the seismic upgrade of Schoenfelds Furniture in Pioneer Square. DeBoer was hired in 2017. Her work includes the historic renovation of FX McRory's in Seattle and the Penrose Hotel in Walla Walla, along with the new $70 million Bellevue Christian Campus for grades 7 – 12 in Medina. Winner has done structural design for houses, and is working on houses in Mercer Island, Seattle, Bellevue, Medina and Woodinville. Wible joined SSF in 2015. He provides structural design for residential projects, and works with specialty fabricators on steel installations. Casem was hired in 2017 and primarily works on multifamily and commercial mixed-use projects such as Blackbird Apartments in Redmond and the new Bellevue South complex just off of Interstate 405.

In Anchorage, Stantec hired William Cobb as a senior mechanical engineer and Jenny Iwinski as projects control lead for petroleum work, and promoted Nick Arnold to project manager to expand its team supporting the oil and gas industry in Alaska. Cobb has over 20 years of experience in the industry, working on onshore and offshore facilities. He is a U.S. Army veteran. Iwinski has over 10 years of experience in Alaska, working on projects ranging from $1 million to $8 billion. Clients include Alyeska Pipeline Service, ConocoPhillips Alaska, BP and Alaska Gasline Development Corp. Arnold joined Stantec in 2017. He is responsible for delivering projects for Alyeska. He has 10 years of experience and is a registered Project Management Professional. Stantec is a global architecture, engineering and consulting firm.

Kenna Wurden-Foster of Bellingham-based Wilson Engineering passed the exam to become a Washington engineer. Wurden-Foster works on systems for treating wastewater, drinking water and stormwater. Wilson provides civil and structural engineering, and land and hydrographic surveying.

Lane Powell attorney Gregory R. Fox was elected to the American Law Institute for his work in commercial finance law. Fox is a shareholder at Lane Powell in Seattle and chairs the Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy Team. ALI's mission is to clarify and simplify the law to further the administration of justice.

Children of the Nations

Paul De Pree is the new executive director of business operations at Children of the Nations, a Silverdale-based nonprofit helping orphaned and destitute children in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, the Dominican Republic and Haiti. De Pree worked for 35 years at Dow Chemical Co. in Michigan, recently retiring as global facilities program director.

Neighborhood House

Mark Okazaki, executive director of Neighborhood House, will retire this fall after 18 years with the social service agency. Applications for a replacement are being sought until Feb. 17, and the agency's board plans to have a new leader in place before Okazaki retires. Neighborhood House serves over 14,000 immigrants, refugees and low-income people at 36 locations in King County.

City of Tacoma

Tacoma City Council wants to fill three positions on the Tacoma Community Redevelopment Authority Board: one at-large, one with experience in construction or development of affordable housing, and one licensed real estate broker.
