Praerit Garg joined Bellevue-based Smartsheet as chief technology officer. Garg has over 23 years of tech experience and is co-inventor on more than 25 patents. He was general manager of identity, directory and access services at Amazon Web Services, and started his career at Microsoft. Smartsheet is a cloud-based platform for work execution.

Seattle Hockey Partners (NHL Seattle) named Todd Humphrey senior vice president of digital and fan experience. Humphrey was CEO of LiquidPlanner, a provider of project management software, and co-founder and chief commercial officer of League Inc., a Toronto-based digital health insurance and employee wellness company. He also was a professional hockey player.
Seattle-based Russell Investments hired Ying Tan as president and general manager for the Shanghai office. Tan has more than 20 years of experience in wealth management, investment research and trading. She headed Mercer's investment business in China and before that was a senior analyst at Children's Medical Center in Boston.
Bellevue-based Symetra is making a $100,000 donation to The Sophia Way, a nonprofit helping homeless single women in King County. The donation will allow Eastside Emergency Shelter for Women to remain open this summer at its interim location while construction is underway on a permanent facility in Kirkland. Symetra provides employee benefits, annuities and life insurance.

The 75th annual Seattle Home Show runs Feb. 23 through March 3 at CenturyLink Field Event Center. Displays will include home tech, tiny houses, Habitat for Humanity, remodeling and more. SHS executive director Mike Kalian said in a statement, “Seattle Home Show is the largest single gathering of the Northwest's top building professionals open to the public.” Details and info: SeattleHomeShow.com.
Seattle Housing Authority's board has approved the acquisition of up to 500 units of affordable housing. Rents will be restricted to people earning between 10 and 80 percent of area median income. The acquisition includes last November's $15 million purchase of the 69-unit Spring Lake Apartments in Lake City. Three other properties are under contract — one in North Seattle, and two in Southeast Seattle — bringing the total to 331 units. SHA says that, after renovations, some rents may actually decrease. SHA currently has about 8,000 units and 400 properties in its portfolio, which serves about 35,000 residents.

Brian Goldfarb is the new chief marketing officer at Chef, a Seattle-based continuous automation software company. Goldfarb was CMO at Splunk and senior vice president of marketing at Salesforce.com. He has more than 20 years of executive experience, including stints at Google and Microsoft.
Seattle-based Darigold promoted Grant Kadavy to COO. Kadavy joined the firm in 2016 as chief commercial officer. Darigold is the marketing and processing subsidiary of Northwest Dairy Association, which is owned by about 450 dairy farms.
Seattle biopharmaceutical company Omeros appointed Dr. Thomas F. Bumol to its board. Bumol is executive director of Allen Institute for Immunology and a former senior executive at Eli Lilly and Co.
In Renton, Providence St. Joseph Health created Ayin Health Solutions, a company that helps payers, providers, employers and government reduce costs, improve care and keep pace with the health care industry's transition to population health. Dr. Rhonda Medows is CEO of Ayin and president of Population Health at Providence. Ayin is based in Portland.
