Okroy

Chris Okroy founded Detroit Northwest, a Seattle-based digital media agency. Okroy started his career in Detroit with agency work at Starcom and Campbell Ewald. He moved to Seattle four years ago and worked at Add3, a digital agency on Capitol Hill.

Puget Sound Regional Council

The Puget Sound Regional Council's General Assembly elected Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier as president and King County council member Claudia Balducci as vice president. PSRC develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth, economic development and transportation planning.

Alpine Immune Sciences

In Seattle, Alpine Immune Sciences appointment Dr. Wayne Gombotz as chief technology officer. Gombotz has over 30 years of experience in biotech and pharmaceuticals, most recently as chief development officer at Immune Design. Alpine uses immunotherapy to treat cancer, autoimmune/inflammatory and other diseases.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf inked a deal with Nestle USA to appear in a series of digital ads and social media content for Nesquik's flavored milk products. Metcalf was recently drafted by the Seahawks and has an affinity for strawberry flavored milk.

Arup hired David Phillip Beal as an associate principal and the transportation planning leader for the Seattle office. Beal will spearhead the creation of an integrated planning practice to support Seattle-area clients. He has over 30 years of experience as a transit project manager. Most recently he was the Pacific Northwest transportation planning regional manager at Aecom. Before that, he was director of planning and development at Sound Transit for almost 10 years during the development and adoption of the ST3 transit plan. Arup provides planning, engineering, design and consulting services.

Zhang

Seattle-based Johnston Architects hired Siyao Zhang as a designer, Kieran McGuire as an architect, Pearl Hanna as an interior designer and Jasmyn Bennett as an office assistant. Zhang holds a bachelor of architecture degree from Tsinghua University in Beijing and a master of architecture from the University of Michigan. She has interned with MAD architects in Beijing and was an intermediate architectural designer at Ellumus in Bellevue.

McGuire has a bachelor of architecture degree from Washington State University and a master of architecture degree from Virginia Tech. His experience ranges from high-end residential to high-rise commercial mixed-use spaces and includes redevelopment of Denver Union Station. Hanna has a bachelor of design in interior design from the University of Florida and will design spaces that enhance occupants' well-being. Bennett has a bachelor's in family and consumer sciences, apparel, textiles and design from the University of Idaho. She has worked in event production, shoe product development and fashion apparel development.

In Seattle, AHBL hired Margot Chalmers and Brooke Vail as landscape designers and promoted Caroline Templeton to senior landscape project manager and Craig Skipton to director of landscape architecture for Western Washington. In Tacoma, it promoted Sarah Singleton Schroedel to senior landscape project manager. In Tri-Cities, it promoted Nicole Stickney to planning project manager. In Spokane, AHBL promoted Craig Andersen to director of landscape architecture for Eastern Washington.

Chalmers has a bachelor's in environmental studies from the University of Vermont and is a graduate of the University of Washington's masters of landscape architecture program. Vail has an undergraduate degree from Colgate University and a master in landscape architecture from North Carolina State University. She has a portfolio of commercial and residential projects, and experience with design-build projects in the Seattle area. Templeton specializes in educational projects, municipal work and private development. She joined AHBL in 2015 with work that included a Napa winery and accessible outdoor spaces for schools in the Puget Sound region. Skipton has spent 16 years designing natural spaces. He joined AHBL in 2016 with experience as a landscape architect, environmental scientist, educator and farmer.

Singleton Schroedel was hired in 2005. The landscape architect has worked on commercial, residential and institutional projects in the Pacific Northwest. Her residential work has been featured in Architectural Digest, The New York Times, HGTV, The Seattle Times and Garden Design magazine. Stickney joined the firm's Tri-Cities planning department in 2015 with experience as a land use planner, economic development manager, and as a program manager for U.S. Army Europe. Her experience includes policy development, code writing, environmental analysis and development review. Andersen was hired in 2011 and has been a critical part of the company's growth in Eastern Washington and the success of its Spokane office. He has spent over 19 years as a landscape architect, community planner and project manager, and has experience in education, public work, residential and commercial design in the Northwest. His public sector work includes pocket parks, convention centers, streetscapes, playgrounds and schools.

Baker

Blueline hired Steven Baker as a project engineer and Boden Dechaine as a construction inspector on public works projects. They work in the Kirkland and Mill Creek offices, respectively. Baker has a bachelor's in civil engineering from New Mexico State University and was an engineer for Pacheco Koch Consulting Engineers in Dallas. He will work on commercial site development and public works projects. Dechaine has a bachelor's in administrative management from Central Washington University and an associate's of technical arts in construction management. He was a project engineer for Dirt Cheap Inc., which specializes in outdoor plumbing. Blueline provides civil engineering, land use planning and landscape architecture.
