Lawyers Daniel I. Neuman and Sommer B. Clement are new shareholders at Carney Badley Spellman in Seattle. Neuman advises on entity formation, securities, corporate finance, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property and general corporate matters. Clement practices in construction and real estate transactions and litigation, civil litigation and insurance defense.

The Standard

Bruechner

In Portland, Standard Insurance Co. (The Standard) hired Susan Bruechner as vice president and chief human resources officer. Bruechner comes from PeaceHealth, where she was senior vice president and chief human resources officer. At PeaceHealth, she co-led diversity and inclusion initiatives and worked with the executive team to expand its succession planning. Prior to that, she held various human resources leadership roles at Goldman Sachs' commercial real estate division. The Standard provides financial protection products and services.

Verity Solutions

Express Scripts bought Kirkland-based Verity Solutions, a software and services provider for users of the federal 340B drug pricing program. Verity will operate as a stand-alone company under the Express Scripts umbrella. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Verity is a portfolio company of Ignition Partners, an early stage, business software venture capital firm based in Bellevue. Express Scripts is a Cigna company.

T-Mobile

Bellevue-based T-Mobile signed agreements with five clean energy sources in the U.S. — four solar farms and one wind farm — as part of its effort to use 100% renewable energy by 2021. The company also announced its second wind farm partner, Engie US Wind, turned on a wind energy project in Kansas. These initiatives bring the company to 95% sourced clean energy.

Tacoma Venues & Events

Tacoma Venues & Events won a 2019 Venue Industry Award from the International Association of Venue Managers. The awards honor venues and individuals who have demonstrated leadership and innovation within the industry. Tacoma Venues & Events manages the Tacoma Dome, the Greater Tacoma Convention Center, Cheney Stadium, Pantages Theater, Rialto Theater and Theatre on the Square.

Seattle-based SMR Architects promoted David Albers, Michael Davis, Megan Espinoza, Demian Minjarez and John Putre to associate. Their new responsibilities include leading project teams and contributing to SMR's strategic planning. Albers was hired in 2012 and focuses on affordable and market-rate multifamily developments. Davis joined SMR in 2015 and has worked with affordable housing providers on new construction and rehabilitation projects. Espinoza was hired in 2012 and has led award-winning affordable and supportive housing developments. Minjarez joined the firm in 2011. His projects include supportive housing for people transitioning out of homelessness, affordable family housing, senior housing and farmworker housing. Putre was hired in 2012. His work has included supportive housing for formerly homeless people, senior housing, child care centers and artist live-work housing.

Engineer Kathy Cox-Czosnyka joined the water division of Tetra Tech as vice president, Northwest Operations. Cox-Czosnyka has been involved in some of the largest infrastructure projects and programs in the Northwest, including as project manager for the Seattle waterfront redevelopment program and the expansion program at Sea-Tac Airport. She has a bachelor's in civil engineering and a master's in structural engineering from Northwestern University. She works in the Bellevue office. Tetra Tech provides consulting and engineering services.

Brad Cooper has returned to HNTB Corp. as transportation department manager at its Bellevue office. The civil engineer has over 20 years of experience, including leading transportation projects and being project manager on high-profile, design-build delivery projects. At HNTB, he oversees projects with clients such as the Washington State Department of Transportation and Sound Transit, and recruits talent for Northwest transportation projects. Most recently, he spent four years as transportation project manager for another consulting firm. From 2006 to 2016, he was a project manager for HNTB, an infrastructure firm.

In Portland, Scott Edwards Architecture promoted Susan Balogh to senior associate/director of interiors, Scott Griggs to associate/IT director and Hayley Purdy to associate. Balogh has over 25 years of interior design experience with a focus on creative offices, health care and senior living projects, and has worked at Nike and at Portland architectural firms. Her career highlights include The Springs senior living development in Lake Oswego, Oregon. She is leading interior design work scope for Rose Villa Senior Living in Milwaukie, Oregon. Griggs has over two decades of information technology experience including advanced training with Microsoft MCSA and a CompTIA A Plus certification. He is responsible for the firm's computer systems, and has modernized its digital tools, updated all software and implemented continued process improvements. Previously, he worked in IT for 10 years at another Portland architectural firm. Purdy is an architect with 11 years of experience. At Scott Edwards Architecture, she held a key role on the award-winning historic Oregon City Library. She is overseeing construction on the One Community Health medical and dental clinic serving the Hood River community. She manages the construction administration support group of Scott Edwards, a regional architecture, planning and interior design firm.
