In Seattle, Mithun promoted Dorothy Faris and Elizabeth MacPherson to partner, Dakota Keene to principal, Christian Runge, David Ichikawa, Naoe White, Tammy Cross and Tina Gega to associate principal, Amanda Bryan, Cassie Hillman Picard and Rosalie Daggett to senior associate and Dawid Pol, Doni Daneshfarnia, Emily Vester, Ethan Davis, Jennifer Papuga, Kasia Keeley, Katie Stege, Lisa Hartanov, Maggie Ciaccio and Reed Kelly to associate. Faris is a landscape architect who works with integrated design teams and project stakeholders to blend site, structure and community. Projects she has worked on include Heartline and Pepsi Blocks mixed-use developments in Portland; University of California San Diego Nuevo West and Nuevo East graduate student housing communities; and Keahuolu land planning in Kona, Hawaii.

MacPherson is an interior designer with a background in health and biophilia — the innate, sensory connection people have with the natural world. In her 24 years at Mithun, she has led the design of workplace and residential interiors for diverse projects including the Weyerhaeuser headquarters in Seattle, Heartline in Portland, and two student housing developments for UC Irvine, Mesa Court Towers and Middle Earth Towers. Keene is a landscape architect who has led site design for many of Mithun's signature projects including cultural landscapes for the National Nordic Museum in Seattle and the Wanapum Heritage Center in Mattawa, and campus workplaces. Among them are the Perot Family offices and Tulalip Administration Building.

Weisman Design Group

Weisman Design Group, a Seattle-based landscape architecture firm, promoted Peter Nelson to associate principal after four years of leadership as a senior associate, and it promoted Todd Yingling and Andrea Leuschke to senior associate. Also, Weisman appointed Dorte Martinez to director of operations, with responsibility for all financial and human resources operations. Martinez is the firm's former business manager.

Clark Nuber

Bellevue CPA and consulting firm Clark Nuber promoted Candi Avery, Dora Leung, Jennifer Mace, Hillary Parker and Matt Sutorius to shareholders. Avery works with not-for-profit organizations. Leung advises privately held businesses on federal and international tax issues. Mace provides planning and compliance for domestic and foreign corporations and pass-through entities. Parker provides audit, accounting and business advisory services to privately held businesses. Sutorius specializes in angel- and venture-backed companies.

University of Washington

The University of Washington's Economics Department promoted Ahna Kotila to academic services director of the undergraduate program. Kotila has been with the university for nearly 20 years and is a graduate of its Economics Department.

Columbia Bank

Tacoma-based Columbia Bank has new management at the top level: Clint Stein as president and CEO; Eric Eid as executive vice president and chief digital and technology officer; David Moore Devine as executive vice president and chief marketing and experience officer; Nicole Sherman as executive vice president and director of retail banking and digital integration; and Aleigha Nation as senior vice president and director of marketing. Columbia Bank has branches throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Lake Oswego, Oregon-based Bates Group acquired The Advisor's Resource, a financial services compliance consulting firm in Houston. Bates' services include litigation consultation, regulatory enforcement and internal investigations, compliance solutions, forensic accounting, damages and big data consulting.

Avalara

In Seattle, business tax software developer Avalara hired Salim Ali as international senior vice president. Ali has over two decades of enterprise software, marketing and business management experience. He most recently was CEO of Loyakk, and before that was group vice president of marketing at SAP.

Pemco

Seattle-based Pemco Mutual Insurance added Jesus Hernandez and Chris Wheaton to its board. Hernandez is CEO of Family Health Centers in Okanogan and Wheaton is CFO of BSquare in Bellevue.

City of Tacoma

The Tacoma City Council wants to fill three positions on the Sustainable Tacoma Commission, which encourages public involvement in sustainability issues. Commissioners can come from the environmental, business, labor, housing, industrial, port, transportation, education, building and residential communities. One of the openings is a youth position. Fort Smith, Arkansas-based In Stock Parts acquired the inventory and intellectual property of Portland-based Mar-Dustrial Sales. The inventory includes Falk couplings and gear reducers. Mar-Dustrial's intellectual property includes its name, website, and customer and inventory databases. Mar-Dustrial has supplied power transmission products to the mining, and pulp and paper industries of the Pacific Northwest since 1947.

Bristal Johnson has three years of construction administration experience, creating and managing bids and assisting in contract development. Thurman has two years of experience in tenant improvement and civil projects. She holds bachelor's degrees from the University of Washington in architectural design and construction management. Brian Johnson has nearly 30 years of experience in design support for various engineering disciplines in the oil refining industry. He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial design from Western Washington University and is a certified drone pilot.
